need help with intake manifold

Post by twistedone_85 »

ok well heres my prob i have a d16z6 block with a d16y8 head. i put on the intake manifold (auto) with it from the y8 but i found out that it wont work due to the coverted auto to manual i did on the car. so this is what i did i took off the y8 intake manifold and put the z6 intake manifold (manual) on the y8 head heres where im running into probs its not sending any codes and also i was wondering if it wont start due to the vacuum lines that are on the y8 block and intake mainifold that are in between the intake pipes. because the z6 intake manifold doesnt have the vacuum in that area.
if this makes any sence help me out if you can if not please ask ill try to describe it better.

thanks

um it doesn't matter if the intake is auto or manual.

the tps/map/vacuum lines all plug into the original spots. The z6 has one on the back of the manifold hook to a little black barometric pressure piece that hooks to the canister and the other on the front goes from the fpr to the intake. Same acounts for the y8 manifold and the only problem I can see if you swaped a obd-2 intake "Y8" which means if the cars obd-1 "z6" the only problem I can see if the tps/map. I do believe the plugs are a tad bit different sorta like the injector clips are different and obd-2 cars have 1 extra wire on the dist.

ya catch my drift.

Actually, on a Y8 intake, it does matter. The manual trans intake has the IACV mounted to the back of the intake. The auto intake has the IACV mounted to the throttle body. The bosses are there so you can drill the holes out. You can either hold an IACV up there and drill the bolt holes and tap them then drill the IACV holes or you can get a manual trans intake.

On a Z6, they are the same.

TPS and MAP sensors are direct plug in.

If you are experiencing a no start condition, I'd check compression first then go from there.

If none of this helped, say exactly what you mean in normal person talk.

TPS and MAP can be the same as stated I didn't know if the plug changed through the years like the injector plugs.

But weather the IACV is on the intake or the TB doesn't matter cause no matter what it's gonna get it's vacuum. So it doesn't matter if it's manual or auto.

I got a 89 crx with a b16a the map use to be on the firewall but now since I put a new TB on from a 95 gsr which the map is on the TB it works fine cause the vacuum source is there.
