problem

Post by HardCore97 »

ok so my car is annoying the piss out of me. i just swapped in a b18b and it runs great but it keeps draining the battery completely to the point it wont let the car run. il just be driveing and lose the lights gauges everything. car starts sputtering and will just die eventually. my grounds are all connected. i even polished them up and filed the paint off the frame so it would get a good connection.
things ive checked:
alternator tested good, battery tested good, took off the connector on the alt and cleaned it up, the belt is new, the belt is tight, pulley on the alt isnt locked up it spins fine.
i cant figure this shit out for anything and i need my car to go to iowa this weekend so id appreciate any help. thanks

start the car, disconnect the battery while its running if it dies its your alternator. i know you said it tested good but it wouldnt hurt to try... :dunno:

damn it. just put on the new alt and its still showing low output. had the old one tested out of the car and it tested good three times. any ideas? ive checked grounds fuses and all kinds of crap. i was thinking it might be the thick wire that goes from the alt to the battery but idk

ok now my horn isnt working right. it only works when the car is running and today it wouldnt work at all. im gonna go make a little cable to test and see if the cable that goes from the alternator to the battery is bad.
