Insight on building a motor

Post by 90CivicEx »

Ok so I didn't know exactly where to put this but here we go, for building a turbo motor whats the best gasket set to go with.

Or building a N/A with possibly a large shot of nitrous whats the best Gasket set to go with.

As well as either setup what Main caps/Rod bearings would you use.

I figured this would help me figure my ways on which way I'm going on my rex if it doesn't sell and I also figured it would help some others out too.

you can be safe with any headgasket as long as the engine is built/tuned right. But to have a less chance of blowing it i would go with a metal headgasket (cometic, hks, etc.) btw: it would also help to inform people what engine you have and what not

+1 cosmetic makes good gaskets...i think i seen some gaskets that were actually "blowproof" and guaranteed not to blow......even though it is built right things still happen, i got a buddy with a Heads/cam/intake lt1 fully built trans and runnin 12 lbs of boost and blew his headgasket twice the same day....and i know that motor is built right

true, shit always happens so its best to be safe and go with a strong gasket, but if you like a little more of a risk you should be able to get away with an oem

if the block is milled correctly and the head has been studded and torqued correctly you should be ok with nearly any gasket as long as your not trying to make gobs of power.

Whenever I hear about someone blowing a head gasket on a "hi performance" car i always point the finger at the person that put it together.
