ProfecB problem?

I had my car tuned over the summer and my tuner was having problems with regulating boost. After trying different things, he concluded that my Greddy ProfecB was the problem. He said that the boost solenoid must have went out. We swapped it out for a manual one, re-ran the vacuum lines, and tuned with that. The problem is the tuner is known to be kinda shady (or at least that's what i've read on here), and the boost controller worked on my previous setup with no problems. I'm wondering when i swapped the motor if i didn't hook something up right, or is the boost solenoid going out common? If it is, any idea how to fix it? sucks cause the boost controller is only about a year and 1/2 old, and they aren't cheap. Just seems kinda wierd the solenoid would just go out. what do you guys think?
