For anyone interested, I talked to a guy about this vehicle and will post the information. THIS IS NOT MY VEHICLE; DO NOT PM ME.
I asked the owner selling this car these questions...
How would you rate the chassis on 1-20, the motor and mechanics on 1-10, paint (I'm sure this will score high) on 1-10, and how hard you drove it 1-10 (10 being hardest). Was this an SCCA weekend warrior or was it just a quick little daily? Who did all of the motor work? If it was a shop, would you be able to provide the receipts? Did you replace the timing belt and water pump or was it a shop? Have you ever had the car on a dyno? Oh yeah; how would you rank the interior 1-10. Has it ever been wrecked or repaired? I think that's about it. If you can think of anything else to add go ahead. No matter, I would save the response e-mail you are sending me and post this information.
His response...
I mainly daily drove the car. It was used in six Solo2 events. This wasn't my first Si so I was always aware of what NOT to do with that motor. It has never seen a track or drag strip.
The timing belt and water pump was replaced by Adrenaline Motorsports in St. Charles. They also performed all of the engine work and installing. I bought this car from my brother-in-law who bought it from the person who built the car. I have a binder full of receipts of what the has all been done on the car. My brother-in-law drove the car maybe a dozen times in the two years that he owned it. I beat him severely at an autocross in a E Prepared Civic that I owned and he never went back. When I blew the motor in my old Si (251K miles), I purchased this car from him. It wasn't the car as my times went up when I started driving this car.
I would give the interior a 6 as the driver's seat side bolster is torn and some of the material has worn. It is still fully functional but it does take away from the interior. I still have the back hatch cover. There are a few stains on the back seat from when someone painted the car along with some faint traces of over spray on the dash. We rubbed most of that out though. The moon roof does not leak and still works flawlessly. The car had been broken into at one point as the driver door glass has been replaced. One other minor issue is that the glove box hinge keeps slipping out. I never spent the time to put it back in place but shouldn't be an issue. ALso the battery has been relocated to the trunk for weight distribution. It is dead right now because one of my kids left the door open. It will be charged up by the time anyone would want to drive it.
The exterior I would give an 8. It has a couple spots if minor surface rust in the door sills and the other typical Honda spots. There is a small crease in the passenger door that needs to be removed. It's about five inches long. The windshield will need to be replaced in order to pass safety.
The engine is definitely a 9. It needs to be tuned even further as I did not have the time or money to bring this thing to it full potential. I had LightSpeed tune it on their dyno for better fuel mileage and to pass emissions. Which is one thing this car will not do. With all of the head work, upgraded induction, and high flow cat, I could never get this thing to pass emissions. Luckily by the first of next month, that is no longer an issue as it does not require emissions anymore in the state of MO. It does use a little oil if you take it over 8K RPM. The engine was built to withstand 9K but I was never comfortable taking it even close to that so I set the rev limiter to 8200 RPM.
I cannot give you an answer if the car has been wrecked or repaired as I am not the original owner. It was never mentioned to me or my brother-in-law when he purchased it either. I can get you the VIN if you would like to run a Carfax on it. I am selling this car as-is with no warranties. The price is negotiable as well. I have a buyer interested in the Rotas that may be purchasing them today. If they sell I am dropping the price to $3500.
You are more than welcome to come out and check out the car. I have some 'legal' plates that you could test drive the car with. Just don't get pulled over. If and when you decide to check it out, I would recommend you bring a floor jack to check out the undercarriage as I don't have one at my house. I keep all of my tools at a family members garage. It has a half a tank of gas in it. Don't worry, it hasn't been in there long and it is a 50/50 mix of 110 with 93 to ensure that it would not go bad. It took it out for a run and couldn't believe the difference. We run that mixture in my cousin's turbo MR2 for over a year and it hasn't been a issue in his car ever. I am going to miss this car when it sells as I am currently driving a 106HP 96 Mazda 626 that rides like a log wagon.
