ok so I have my coilovers that I bought from Rob and I'm not sure if I wanna put them on because:
a.) I wont ever be able to get in my drive until I re-do the curb
b.) shitty ride
c.) dont know how much camber kits cost
d.) some more that I cannot think of..
So I have a few questions:
Would lowering my civic make it harder to turn since I don't have any power steering?
How much do camberkits cost? and where do I get them?
post up answers if you have any. and post if you have encountered any other problems that I did not list. Plus I dont have the wrenches for them.
coilovers how do they affect the car?

If you replace your struts/shocks with some after market ones designed for being lowered it shouldnt be a shitty ride at all. Also when lowering it you dont always need a camber kit, because sometimes it doesnt even effect the camber, how low are you expecting to go?

anywhere from $20 - $100+. nice ones you can adjust to get the perfect angle on your allignment. ebay has kits that are front and rear for like $40, they work well but are only adjustable between 1.5* - 3*

Before you go out and spend money on a camber kit you should probably get a front end alignment check first, because if its at the right specifications no need to waste money.

if he is going to lower it in the future he might as well get one, it helps99preludesh;21011 wrote:Before you go out and spend money on a camber kit you should probably get a front end alignment check first, because if its at the right specifications no need to waste money.

This is not true because I lowerd mine 3 inches awhile back with coilovers, had an alignment check a few months later before I changed to lowering springs and the alignment was in specs, then I put my springs on and I was lowered 1.9 in the front 1.5 in the back and about 2 years later did the alignment check at school and it was also in specs. SO I dont need any kind of camber kit because everything is where its supposed to be.budget_crx;21012 wrote:if he is going to lower it in the future he might as well get one, it helps

thats nice, with 100% stock suspension my camber was off, different cars require different setups. I don't know anything about the prelude suspension but i am sure the geometry is different than that of a civic's. it would be pointless for him to put on the coilovers get it on an allignment machine only to see that his camber is off 3*, then he will have to take the suspension apart once more just to fix it. going with the kit is a safe bet99preludesh;21013 wrote:This is not true because I lowerd mine 3 inches awhile back with coilovers, had an alignment check a few months later before I changed to lowering springs and the alignment was in specs, then I put my springs on and I was lowered 1.9 in the front 1.5 in the back and about 2 years later did the alignment check at school and it was also in specs. ok people play nice now. But thanks for the info. and I can get an alignment check for free and it fixed for pretty cheap since my brother works at NTB. But anymore tips?budget_crx;21015 wrote:thats nice, with 100% stock suspension my camber was off, different cars require different setups. Also I believe we did an alignment on Josh's car after we lowered it and it was fine, and in specs. Yes every single car is different weather is a blue 96 hatch or a red 96 hatch every single car is different.
So why waste money on a camber kit if you dont even need it? Lil BurnzY's brother works at NTB and im sure can get him an alignment check next for free. I honestly would rather take the suspension back apart KNOWING the camber is off and im fixing somehting that just fix somehting you dont know or not if it needs to be fixed. Suspension is not a 2 day job more like a couple hour job so it really wouldnt be that big of a deal if you ask me.
