new guy audio question

Post by lurch95hatch »

Hey I am trying to figure out what size amp I need for my two 10's. They will be in my 95 hatch with a pioneer head unit, been out of the audio ame so long I have no idea where to go with it.

Here's the specs on my subs
The MTX Thunder 4000 series 10-inch models, The T4104 has a 4 Ohm impedance, 39Hz to 150Hz frequency response, 200/400 power handling (RMS/Total), 88.0dB sensitivity, 1 1/2-inch voice coil, 25 oz. magnet and 4 13/16-inch mounting depth.

Whatever help you guys can give is appreciated, thank you!

If they are a single voice coil 4 ohm sub(you didnt say single or dual)

Just find an mono amp thats 400-500 RMS at 2ohms, and you'll be just fine.

They are both single, also I plan on building the box. With these specs is it best to go sealed or ported?

I like the sound of a sealed box. More accurate...punchy I guess. A ported box can be louder, usually more "boomy".... will not respond as accurately as a sealed sub IMO.

I have 1 infinity 10 in my hatch, its loud enough for me....but I don't like loud.
