Amp and Capacitors

Post by MaSSaCrE »

Alright im getting some minor audio put into the daily car im driving. Its an 00 grand am se that i got in trade for a 07 vette windshield being installed. I have 4 brand new alpine type s Speakers and a Brand new alpine cda-9884 headunit.Still picking out a 12" alpine type r or two 10" alpine type r's. I was wondering what amp I should use to run the 4 alpine type s speakers and what capacitors i should use for this minor audio.

Thanks.

A cap isn't going to hurt. If your getting the type R your going to want to something that can push 500 RMS watts at 4 ohms if your going with the single 12. If your going with the two 10's then go with something that can push 1000 RMS Watts at 1 ohm.

or a measly 400 watts.........

you should hear my car.. it proves that you dont need a bunch of crap and insane wattage to sound great.

well yea of course. Thats just for max usage out of the sub. Audio companies actually recommend that you run your amp and half the watts or the RMS watts of the subs.

get a deck with built in x-overs this will eliminate the need for a amp for the highs , if your going for just stock replacements like the type's then that is all you'll need for power.

then as far as the sub i would pass on the type R's unless you want a TON of bass i would look into the type E's cheaper woofer, smaller box less power less need for cpas/batteries and large power wire.

i would do a single 12" sub a ported box and about 300-400 watts max

Or right now custom is selling 2- kenwood 12's and a 500 watt amp for 169.00 smoking deal and it gets loud.

but for me i would scoop up a kicker comp 12" and a 300.1 and a ported box and have at it .

Or get a pair of memphis audio pr 12's and a profile ap1000 and enjoy a ton of bass for like 350.00

I think I may take you up on that deal for the two kenwoods and the 500 watt amp.Just so I dont have to deal with looking for a bunch of stuff.Im not really picky i just want a sound system and a really nice viper alarm or something due to jeffco.
