New to area, Shop suggestions BALLWIN

Post by Atticus »

I'm new to the area just moved to Manchester, I'm looking for a out of the wall place not corporate owned (ie. Firestone, dobbs, plaza tire) place to get my car inspected. I just got it done at Firestone (closest to my home) and they r trying to get me to replace my rack n pinion ... To pass inspection..
Anyone have suggestions of a family owned shop or even that older guy who has a shop for passion that does inspections??

Yea trying to stay away from Corp. places

They said i quote "rack is leaking out of Bellow Boot on right side. Drops hitting the floor in the shop."
Now i just changed Starter Yesterday due to some trouble shooting..and when i pulled it maybe a little bit of Trans oil came out..i seen it on top of the trans could have gotten on the boot since its right there under it?

I filled my PS res. yesterday also..and its at the same level..so??
going to take it to another place tomorrow going to wipe it down a bit too and check myself before hand

Went to another shop today of Manchester road, guys seem pretty cool just what I'm looking for. Have to get the rack and pinion replaced but 100 bucks cheaper.
Will be posting picks of my car in my new member thread once it's done and I give it a bath

Economy Car Care is a good one.
Roys on Manchester isnt too bad either.

But yeah midas and all of them are horrible Ive had my run ins with them (just went there for the warranty to sell the car though it doesnt transfer anyway :club:)

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.
Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you take the wall with you.
Hope this helps

Be upfront with the new shop.
Ask them to look at the rack n pinion and tell you if it will pass inspection.
Otherwise you will have to pay for a 2nd inspection.
