Digital Sol's Del Slo Turbo Build

Post by Digital Sol »

Well i decided to keep up with progress and also to avoid me creating numerous threads over the next few months I might as well just create a build thread.

I am building my honda del slo for boost & with your help & a bit of luck will have it completed over the next few months. I "do" have a DD and fact of the matter is this car hasn't seen more than 200 miles in 2 years "COMBINED" so I really wanna get the ball rolling on this and get it back on the road. Going that long without driving it really hurts the motivation!

Come this sunday the supercharger will be removed & i will begin the turbo build. Unfortunately i "never" ran the supercharger, I only had it installed recently but wanted to wait until summer to slap the belt on & tune on E85, wish i could have ran it even for a short while to really see what it could do on 10 or 15psi w/high comp motor & e85 but Ive got a nice start for a turbo kit & the supercharger has been sold. With that being said shes getting pulled apart this weekend and the new build will start!1

For starters here are some misc pics of the car.

This was about 2 years ago, when it was all motor and I drove it ofton...before the clear coat on my hood magically vanished haha

Here is the current front end pic, new bumper "havnt installed fogs yet" however the air to water heat exchanger is nice place

My poor car was neglected for a year while I had "2" knee surgery's forcing me to spend more time & money on medicals bills and getting myself back to par....hood went to crap

Well Day 1 has ended....i got off to a late start as yesterday was the worlds longest day driving to Columbia to catch a mizzou game then back to st.louis, then to the casino for a bit....

Anywho here she is, today my goal was to simply remove the S/C so it can be packaged & shipped to its new owner.

Ignore that "white/chaulky" stuff that the entire car is covered in, it appears my car cover shed's really bad, ill trash it at the end of winter but for now besides leaving white chalky material everywhere it at least keeps the sun off of it.

Also i apologize in advance if my pics came out bad, i used my cell phone to snap pictures today as my mem card is MIA. Next time ill use my reg camera for updates.

Here is her first peak at the Sun from a long and continuous winter

Heres a few pics of the beautiful charger i never got to enjoy :(

All Jacked Up

Charger is out & its getting dark...it appears nearly all the lights in the garage burnt out after not using them for months

I like to label all the bolts etc to make it easier for the next owner..i typically do this on my own stuff as well in case i happen to forget'

Any some eye candy for the new parts!!

My goal next weekend is to

-Install full race traction bars
-Install ID 1000 CC injectors
-Remove Header
-Fix driver & passenger side door locks
-Spray the car down and get rid of that nasty white chalk its covered in
-Have a complete list of parts needed and which parts ive decided to go with for my build including which engine/build route im going to take.

I ordered a few more goodies today, pics at they arrive!

Finally a update: Just purchased the following shortblock to kick this build into gear

Benson Sleeved b18 short block
-Eagle Rods
-84mm CP 11:5 comp pistons
-LS Crank/Micropolished
-Type R oil pump
-Type R water pump

Now this block is already fully assembled however I'm having it shipped to Mike @ Laskey Racing to replace the 11:5 comp pistons with 10:1 CP pistons. 11:5 just seemed too high for my build regardless of fuel used to be on the safe side.

Now onto the head, ill be looking into which valves/springs/retainers to go with over the next week or so & go from there. Ill be using my stock type r head as the platform. I do "not" plan on port work but would like to strengthen it up with an aftermarket valve-train to handle the 9k rev's and power goal's.

This weekend the stock type R engine will be completely removed so i can remove the head & resell the shortblock. Pics on sunday! If time permits I will also be cleaning the bay up a bit to prep it for a respray. Wont be doing any crazy tuck or shaving but I will do some minor wire tucking and misc to clean the bay up & free some space, including moving my fuse box to the rear storage bins inside the cabin.

The vortech?

I never started it up after the install......I was going to shoot for 350whp on the stock itr block but got a good offer on the vortech system so removed it, sold it, and moving on to bigger plans.

Squeezed out a nice 200whp all motor so 350whp @ 15psi on the vortech was "not" out of range however I couldn't pass up the opportunity to get back on the path I wanted to be on
