Well I left the house needing to take the gf home. Didnt even get out of the neighborhood before slamming into a curb at 15mph. Had already slowed down but the car just decided to go straight.
Managed to get it home. No real body damage except for some rash on the right front of the bumper. But the suspension is definitely bent. On the front one wheel is an easy 20-30 degrees off of the other direction wise. It looks like the right rear is out of alignment as well. The car is saying service esc and the car in no way will drive straight. I fought it hard to stay straight the 2 blocks to get it back in the car port. I normally take that turn at around 35mph and was braking long before the turn. But it just didnt matter. After 12 years of driving this is my first real wreck. Definitely sobering. Extremely livid right now. Sad thing is right before I hit the car kept saying esc active. I had thought about turning it off before I left and while some might disagree I do believe its part of the reason I wrecked. But its whatever. So guess I will pay the deductible and have it towed to the bodyshop tomorrow.
Any bets on whats damaged? besides 2 ss/tc wheels?
Heres some pics. The rear pic its hard to make out that the rears out of alignment. Its not much just enough to make the car not track straight.
The car appears to have taken it pretty well... Still dont remember the rear end hitting but it obviously did...
2008 Chevy Slobalt Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.
Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you take the wall with you.
Hope this helps Yes I own 2 slow red chick cars & 1 real car!

And thats truly what matters. And thankfully I had enough put to the side to be able to send this to the shop and not mess up christmas at all. But it definitely sucks and I was beyond livid with myself lastnight.
Thanks man

my gf hit some black ice two days again and put her car in the ditch. didnt tear anything up or hurt her she was just a little sore. its fun to play in the snow but not so fun when your sliding around and cant control the car. ive never wrecked in the snow too bad thankfully just gotten stuck a couple times.
i may not be "logical" but at least i can change my oil...

This was my first time ever wrecking in the snow. Go figure I had just let the eclipses plates expire...
Anyone got any bets on damage amounts? Cobalt guys are guessing between 1800-4100 in damages (4100 if it needs a new front bumper paint front and rear suspension with 2 new wheels)

when I moved it to get it onto the tow truck the steering is definitely screwed!!!
theres definitely steering damage as well as suspension wheel and front bumper damage. It was a handful just moving it 75 feet across the parking lot. Killed me though when he pulled it up onto the flatbed and scraped the shit out of the front bumper!

This makes me sad. But here she is on the wrecker getting ready to go to the body shop. Had to pull her out of her stall and move her around the lot to get it to the wrecker and the steering is beyond fucked as is the tracking of the rear end of the car.

Its hard for me to judge costs cuz its a new car. but hopefully it isn't too much a chunk of change. atleast you were able to make it home and not be stranded in the cold!
It happens to the best of us, snow and ice are a cold bitch.
