Another project. Civic with RH suspension damage...

Post by RyanA »

Well, saw this on the way to Percy's the other day. It was about 300 feet from the green EX 4 door I had bought for my wife a couple years ago. Guy was on his cell phone and hit a curb while he was going 15-20 mph. Blew the airbags, broke front ball joint (I have the suspension ratchet strapped back up to make the car sit at ride height), broke front brake rotor, and bent the rear lower control arm. I have every part at the shop to fix this thing and hope to have it done and driving by the end of the week. Actually, I need to get a textured side skirt since all I have is painted, IIRC...

I pulled the front fender off before I tried to load the car just to keep it from getting damaged if the tire decided to go wherever it wanted. It has no damage. Front bumper and missing side skirt is really all the body damage there is from the accident. It does have a prior salvage title (found out after I handed over cash but didn't care for the price I bought it for) but it's because one of the guys rear ended someone with it about 6 years ago. As long as the car drives well, I don't care about a branded title. Guess that means liability only on this bucket...

Nice, I am sure I dont wanna even ask how little you payed for it.

Should be a good driver or project car once you get the suspension damage addressed.

I paid waaaay too much for it Chad. $400.

I won't be parting the car. It will be driving by the end of the week. IF the wife likes it better than the Accord wagon, the wagon will either get sold OR I may try to find an H22 manual swap for it.

Yep. Nice, huh? When the ball joint broke, looks like the LCA made a trip through the rotor. He was turning right so that put it straight into the rotor.

Hopefully the rear subframe didn't get bent.

Was all that damage from just a ball joint failure?
