I'd think you'd lose interest in the vette just as fast though. They're expensive to maintain/fix if something goes out on them, most of the car is controlled by electrics that make it hard to diagnose any sort of electrical issues, and aftermarket parts aren't cheap for them by any means what-so-ever.

Don't get me wrong though, they're great cars and I love both mine and my fathers, they can just be a bitch when things go wrong

The mentality of keeping the hp/tq in line with motor size just doesn't work. You would have to adjust bore/stroke unless you plan on making this a 12 cylinder motor. Adjusting bore/stroke will change how much you can rev....and overall all the extra moving parts in the motor....I don't see how they would keep a 9k redline. Which with the s2000/honda in general, rpm is how they actually make power.

I hear where you are coming from, and the s2000 motor IMO is still very impressive. But I'm going to say its kind of like magazine racing.

**edit**
Has any other car manufacturer come out with something similar to vtec?
I know some cars have the changing timing control, but I've never seen anyone else actually have 2 powerbands (cam profiles) on the same motor.

It still amazes me that honda is pretty much the only company that excels with this, and its been out 20 years.
Oh I agree, I know it'd be difficult to produce such numbers on that scale, but I don't doubt that if Honda put a large displacement motor in a car it'd make great numbers. Just...well bench racing like you said haha.

Is Toyota's vvti (i think that's what it is) similar?

pretty interesting read on variable timing.

and something you probably won't understand (all japanese), but it gives pictures/video

that was a pretty interesting vid even though I couldn't understand a word the guy was saying, lol. just being able to see the cut aways and how the systems work was cool and while I still don't fully grasp it, I feel I have a slightly better understanding of how they work. Just have to do some more looking and reading on them now

So, here's another idea that I've had thanks to Forza, lol.

How hard would it be to actually take a Integra and make it RWD? I'm talking the body style like AndyJT's type R, and maybe putting the drivetrain out of a wrecked S2K in it.

theres actually an em1 in the newest honda tuning with the drivetrain from an s2k in it. it would take quite a bit of custom stuff i would imagine
i may not be "logical" but at least i can change my oil...

Honda Tuning this month has a feature on a 2000 Civic Si (which is a similiar chassis to what you mentioned) with a RWD swap from a wrecked S2000. I didn't buy the mag cuz I'm cheap, but the guy used the engine and trans, made a custom trans tunnel and all kinds of custom fabbing.

You should check it out. This months issue also had a B20VTEC AWD build using a B20 manual 4WD transmission, custom shaft and 1990 4WD Civic Wagon rear end. And that one was turbo'd and in the 400 hp range.

There is also a person that put a civic body on a corvette chassis.
