David Eckstein interview...
He was offered a 3 yr 21 million dollar extension at the beginning of the year and he declined it stating he wanted to test the free agent market. I'm sad to see him gone because he was one of my favorite Cardinals because he busted his ass every play no matter what and I don't know of another player currently that plays as hard as him. However if he wanted to be here so bad he would have taken the 7 mill a yr for 3 yrs. Instead he had a so so yr due to injures and got a 1 yr 4.5 mill contract. I'll follow him still and miss him but I don't really buy the crying shit. It is all a business, shit I wish I could play a sport well enough to make millions.

He's not "crying" about anything in the interview. He acknowledges the fact that the sport is a business and he did not want to discuss contracts at the beginning of the year. He wanted to play the season then discuss it with the team when it was more appropriate to do such things. I still think the Cardinals are giving him the shaft. Either way, I hope he has a great year and hope St. Louis still respects him the same.

I'll follow Eckstein wherever he goes. You have no idea how excited I was when I found out the Angels had released Eckstein right after Renteria signed with Boston. I remember thinking damn the Birds better get him he is a player. So when he signed for the 3 yr 9 mill i was stoked. The first time I ever saw or heard of him was 02 when he was with Anaheim when they won the World Series and he impressed me. Again it's a shame he is gone but that is what happens now days in sports.

Eckstien doesn't put fans in seats, Albert does. Even if the Cardinals traded every player on the team and brought in players from the minors, idiots would still buy tickets. If you don't like the way the Cardinals do business quit going to games.

Who is that directed to bud?
If it is me I never once said in any post I didn't like the way Cardinals did business I have been a Cardinals fan since my first game at age 4 which was 22 yrs ago. I was stating that I loved Eckstein here and would still be a fan of him wherever he goes. But baseball is a business players come and go and that is that.

No it's not directed to baseball fans, like you and me. It directed to people who bitch that the Cardinals suck but buy tickets to next weekends game.
I hate people who go to sporting events just because it's the cool thing to do. That's why I hate going to Rams' games, they get pissed becuase I cheer to loud. F-ing pansies.
