My Little Secret Is Out
I'll hopefully be finding out by the end of next week or early the week after. Depends on when Lowe Performance can get me in. I'll make sure to post it.civicex442;34719 wrote:what did it dyno?
I understand all this is true and I pretty much knew all this before I started building it. I just figured that I would do something a little different than what I've been seeing lately i.e. b-series I/H/E. It's getting so common to see this anymore it makes me sick. I'm not going to lie one bit, the b-series is a very good platform, but you never actually see anyone hardly do any thing to them. People think that they can just throw in a b swap and say their car is fast, WTF. I don't have any sort of personal problem with people doing the b swap, (I ran a b16 in my Integra) but fucking do something with it!!!N2HIFI;34787 wrote:so what was the secret? that you drive a honda? or that some of the parts you bought wont really give you the performance that you thought they would. Or that your still in the closet. MMMMMUUUUUHHHHHHAAAAAAaaaaaaa
sorry i could not help it.
build sounds nice but after having built ALOT of d-series motors (built not bolt ons) this is my opinion and take it for what its worth.
Stage one cam- waste of money unless it was free you paid too much for 1-3 hp gains over stock. Typically stage 1 cams are regrinds and add very little. Ever d- series builder i talked to says they wont even sell a customer a stage 1 because of the lack of performance.
GSR TB- dont waste your money buying a big name TB because you will never notice the difference in performance. your running a non force induction motor which means what you currently have is basically optimum for your set up
NO2- if your going to run a shot don't waste you time and money on anything less then a 50 shot. i would start there and go up, you will never notice a 30 shot (because its only like 15 hp to the wheels). I had a 100hp direct port NO2 kit on my crx and that was worth it (but i also had a fully built z6/y8 combo with 11.5+ compression and a stage 2 NO2 cam plus supporting mods)
so depending on what your goals are , to really get the d to perform your going to need to raise the compression and build the internals and go with a larger cam. Amkee makes some bad ass cams for good price also ALOT of perople have had good luck with the zex stage 2 cams (me being one of them)
but either way you go the car is nice and the build is nice also and if you want once you get it tuned and running ill bring of my hatch and we can run them to see how you far against my b-series (its stock with I/H/E) but let em know soon cause i am putting on my built head/intake manifold and new tune probley next month.
chris
Anyway, I don't know what you mean by buying a big name t/b, it's just a stock GSR that I bought from Rob for $20 bucks. As far as that goes I figured that the little jump I get over the stock z6 t/b would help in some way. I don't get how you figure opening the t/b into a bigger more free flowing manifold isn't going to help, forced or not?:dunno:
As far as the comment of the NOS and the head work, I don't really know how big of a shot I'm going with because I don't know what the engine is capable of at this point. The head is completely built, and I had put that it was getting milled .025 to raise the compression.
Anyway, I'm not trying to talk shit or start it, I wish we could have met when you came to my house to pick up the RDC, you sound like a good guy. I'll keep what you said in mind and maybe in the future when I have the money we can work on it together so you can school me on the d-series lol.
I guess what I was trying to say about the secret, is that alot of people keep there work a secret, and for what reason. Maybe rick should make this the official "What's Done to Your Car" post or something, I don't know. And for god sakes rick if you do, rename it. I was thinking about it earlier and it does sound a little gay. Whatever, all my work is out there it's no big secret.
Seriously thanks for the info!!!

If your wanting to be different, building the D-Series isn't the right thing for you. Don't they come stock in almost every Civic in America? Building a D has been done, just the same if not more then a B-Series. Just ask N2HIFI. I'm building a D because you can make the same power as a B swap for less money.runsonrice;34880 wrote:

You sound kind of like AJ when he said, "Well Rick had 17's on his B-Swapped car and made more horsepower." Just putting more air into a motor isn't going to make it faster. You need to have the proper mixture of air and fuel to get the best out of your motor. For a good example of what I'm talking about, you should see the boosted EG8 that has stock fuel/engine management. Just ask him what he runs at the track. He'll answer with, "Consistant 17's". And just tuning it with a "chip" is not the best way either.
Maybe people like their builds to be a secret. Whats the fun in racing someone when they know each and every detail of your car?

I realize that putting more air into it alone isn't going to make it that much faster. That's why it's going to Lowe Performance to get tuned. I'm not that fucking stupid. My point of being different was by not putting in a b swap and putting on the common mods (I/H/E) and just calling it good like I see way too often. That's fine if people want to keep their builds a secret, but in my case I take pride in the work I've done and for this having only been my second build I'm very proud of what I've done. Like Chris (DaBeastWthn) said last night after he saw the thread, "I just want my car and my work to be respectable." Don't get me wrong I'm not taking anyones criticism personal. Maybe like I told Chris (N2HIFI), we can get together and you guys can school me on the d series. HAHA

not to bash you, but there is no point in trying to make a civic "different".
Make the car fast (i.e. 9s 10s) and then you will be different. Well.....at least around st. louis.

werd but were not in st. louis and anywhere from 14's to 13's will get you wins around here cause everyone is a redneck piece of fuck and build 355 third gen camaro's. So his build is different around here cause people say there gonna do things then don't so until you come down and see the lame scene around here I wouldn't start qouteing times.5thgen;34949 wrote:not to bash you, but there is no point in trying to make a civic "different".

His car is gonna be moderatly quick and no one said it was going to be fast but high 14's to low 15's is good enough, he has other plans later down the road but having a completely stock Si and having the normal minor mods is stock in it's own right. So he did some head work give him some credit, oh wait ya can't cause you don't know the redneck fucks down here. There's very and I mean very few to near no swapped honda's around here, people put some 17's and neons and a exhaust and call it fast as fuck but then you get the few like us that actually wanna do something but don't have much money to put twords then seeing as how we both have kids. So we do it in small sittings and save just to do something, so why don ya guys just come hang out down here one night cause the fastest imports around here can be counted on one handand they run from 15's to this awd dsm that runs like high 12's which aint hard to do on that kinda car.
