well the replacement soft top is almost as expensive as the mugen, so since you need a new one i would def go for the hard top, totally badass

You have to take the soft top off to put on the hardtop, so if you went hardtop it would ruin your spring summer fun driving around with either a hardtop or a hole in the back of your car where the soft top is supposed to be theoretically you could put the convertible boot over it but with the weather in MO do you really want to have to find a underpass or parking garage until it stopped raining? Also I am sure it would kill the resale value, how many people are looking for an S2000 with a hardtop most want it because it is a convertible. IMO I love the way a hardtop looks but you will never find one on my car because there is nothing better than rolling top down. So my vote is to stay with the soft top but hey it is your car do what you wanna :)

Also hard top prices are ridiculous low end 2 grand high end around 5 grand. You can get a nice soft top for around 500-600 bucks.
