plain and simple here... my town has banned pitts from it.. we had an attack a couple years ago where a pit used a baby as a toy.. owners couldnt figure out why the dog would suddenly snap and start throwing the baby around like a rag doll.. dog was raised with kids.. never abused,, never caged up or chained.. it just turned.. these dogs are killers.. they were bred to kill.. theres no changing their bloodlines.. now im sure theres a few that arent dangerous,, and i know everyone will come to their defense and say welp any dog can turn.. but what i dont understand is if any dog can turn on its owners.. how come its always a pit bull?? how come its not a cocker spaniel, or a weiner dog..
to make my perfectly useless statement make sense... ya buy a dangerous breed.. prepare for violence

I couldnt have said it better myselfJonDubya;93242 wrote:Welp...this is obviously a very complex issue...I don't have time right now to discuss it in full, but my take on it is this. Both the owner and the animal are responsible for the animal's aggression. As John said, genetics can produce fierce and dosile pitts. Depending on when the owner acquires the pitt is also a great factor; as well as the owners themselves. Just like with any other dog, it very often takes on attribues of it's owner. Training is also a huge part of the problem/solution.
I think that pitts get bad rep because 1. they are strong dogs 2. they have a history of being used for dog fighting and 3. many pitt owners don't know how to properly train a dog (ANY dog). Those 3 combined created this animosity you see today.

pigs are the fastest to revert to 'wild' behavior after escaping from captivity... even after hundreds of years of captivity, in a matter of weeks their hair grows thick and dark and they sprout tusks.
I'm just sayin.

That's all for now. I'm off to Moolah.
well put. pitts are agressive dogs yes, but idk about you all, but i have never seen a video of a pitt attack where the owner appeared to be able to control the dog or show dominance over it. if pitts arent trained well to be nice, they wont be. and even if they are trained, beating a dog like a lot of people do to pitts will make it more likely to attack someone.
i/gf has a pitt, and she is sweet and calm. the only time she gets agressive is when she is being territorial, which lots of dogs will do.
pitts were first bread to help in bull fighting pits, hence the name. they were then turned into fighting dogs because they are very strong and easily trained. some dogs act like that for no reason, like it seems this dog did, but can that not be said the same with humans? pitbulls are not banned from cities or anything because of the threat of them, they are banned because of fear.deetz;93309 wrote:plain and simple here... my town has banned pitts from it.. we had an attack a couple years ago where a pit used a baby as a toy.. owners couldnt figure out why the dog would suddenly snap and start throwing the baby around like a rag doll.. dog was raised with kids.. never abused,, never caged up or chained.. it just turned.. these dogs are killers.. they were bred to kill.. theres no changing their bloodlines.. now im sure theres a few that arent dangerous,, and i know everyone will come to their defense and say welp any dog can turn.. but what i dont understand is if any dog can turn on its owners.. how come its always a pit bull?? how come its not a cocker spaniel, or a weiner dog..

No offense, but no town should tell you what kind of animals you can and can not have. I think that's ridiculous. Pit bulls are not the only aggressive dogs out there. And I believe if they were the worst dogs, that the police would use them instead of german shepherds. I remember reading somewhere that german shepherds are more likely to bite than any other dog, but I couldn't find the link to it, so you'll just have to take my word for it.deetz;93309 wrote:. now im sure theres a few that arent dangerous,, and i know everyone will come to their defense and say welp any dog can turn.. but what i dont understand is if any dog can turn on its owners.. how come its always a pit bull?? how come its not a cocker spaniel, or a weiner dog..

It irritates me how people can get so passionate about how terrible pit bulls are, but not how terrible humans are. How many people are brutally killed on a daily basis? And yea, we all see the news, but until someone comes crashing into our country most of us can simply ignore it.
Something is wrong with that.

You don't know what you're talking about. You're not very smart, and the things you're saying are nonsense. And I'm not angry. But you do need to shut up.

because nobody ever reports shit like that. There are hundreds of dog attacks every day, but seems like the only ones reported are "pits" because they have a history of violence because worthless fucks cant find a different way to make money.deetz;93309 wrote:. how come its always a pit bull?? how come its not a cocker spaniel, or a weiner dog..
FUNNY STORY
When we went down to Chesterfield Valley Sonic last summer, a police officer came up to me and told me I had to have Mugen on a leash no longer that 3 feet, and she had to have a bright orange mussle on because she was a "pit". I threw her in my car and I laughed because funny did she know Mugen isnt a "pit" shes an American Staffordshire Terror.
A "pit" is not a certain kind of breed, its a type of dog. People are so stupid when it comes to "pits" honestly. If they wanna ban PITS I say go for it because I garentee you 96% of the police force wouldnt know a American pitbull terrior from an Amstaff any day LAWL

another funny story!
Vinny and Rio were playing tug-o-war tonight and when I yelled "delicious little babies!" Rio tried to violently rip the rope out of Vinny's mouth. good times.

I agree with the saying "punish the deed, not the breed". Any dog in the wrong hands is a dangerous thing. Oh, and ditto to everything John Dubya said.

very good points.. i personally havent seen a violent pit.. so i really dont see what the fuss is about.. other then spending 3-500 bucks for a dog which is pointless..do you know how many dogs 3-500 bucks would save in a kill shelter?99preludesh;93379 wrote:because nobody ever reports shit like that.
