Car Inspection

Well the Burgundy Bomber didn't pass inspection today they failed it for a bad lower control arm and a (and I don't understand why) power steering pump....thing is is my power steering works fine. They want 1185 and change for the repairs, and alignment. So right now the car stands to be sold unless I can find someone to pass it...Anyone know anyone so I can at least get it licensed and not pay the fee's every month it sits? If not it is going up for sale Mon...

Isn't there something in the system now that shows the next place you take it what was wrong? My buddy tried it once and the 2nd shop wouldn't touch it because of that.

I just got my car inspected at one of the emission places. The one on the same road as Adrenaline now does both safety and emissions testing. It didn't seem like they really looked for all of that. My hood was open for maybe a minute or so and they took the front left tire off to look at things.

Just don't tell them it already failed, when I was a service writer there was no way of me tracking to see it it had already been done.

with the new "Gateway VIP" setup, a technician can, at his discretion, enter in certain information about vehicles. like a truck with x inches of lift that wouldnt pass with its regualr 44" tires on comes in with stock wheels and tires, then the tech would type that into the system. other than that, nothing is transferred station to station. the ONLY way you power steering pump can fail is if it is leaking enough to drip on the floor, if you have a belt on there, its not leaking severly, it passes. what was wrong with your lower control arm? ive personally never failed a lca, but i assume bushings causing wheel play would be the culprit. what type of car, PM me if you want me to take a look at it or even do the repairs for you.

Could his ball joint also be a possibility?...Last time I took my car to get inspected, one shop said I needed new brake lines, I took it to a different shop and all they said was I needed new tires so that's the shop I chose. :)

if it were a ball joint, they SHOULD specify ball joint, lower upper, and which side. if you ever have a doubt for your vehicle failing, take it somewhere else, then if they prove the other shop wrong, take it to the hwy patrol and tell them, certain shops give the rest a bad name.
