Ill be looking for a job soon, got some questions...

Post by 00siandrew »

Ive been working for a publishing company for a little over 6 months as an auxillary worker and turns out they won't be able to fit me in the budget so in 3 months when my hours are up Ill be gone. The state only allows a company to have auxillary workers work 1000 hours before a decission has to be made, so thats why Im on a time limit. Anyway, a friend of mine suggested UPS because of me being in college still. Apparently they are always looking for college students and take really good care of them. I am just curious if anyone on here has worked for UPS or knows anyone who has and what you can tell me about working for them. Or if anyone knows of somewhere that will be looking for someone to work 20-25 hours a week. I appreciate any input.

It depends on what you're going to do, I know myself, Josh/99Blackhatch, and Blaine/Hondaman have all worked/still work at UPS. I myself had a very bad experience because I wasn't used to getting up at 2:30 in the morning for pre-loading, and I also had two on job injuries. I think Josh was a pre-loader as well, and Blaine is a driver, I'm not sure what their experiances are like but that's mine.

What do you like to do? Or want to do?

I don't think anyone wants to work at ups, although it most likely is a good job. The shorts are hott.

Well it doesnt really matter what I want to do or like to do because I just need something to get me through college. And Im not even thinking all the way through college. Just something that will work with my schedule that pays more than 7 dollars an hour. My job now pays 10 which is actually pretty decent for a guy that lives at home and has no bills other than insurance due once every six months.

Great company to work for, but note they are highly selective and cut you no slack if you're late or make yourself "needy" with special requests

Im rockin out at ups still been there 2.5 years or so. Its okay..im in unload which is a piece of cake...hours are okay...pay is okay, but you get benefits and they pay up to 3k a year for school soo whatever. Its a pretty good part time job for 3-4hrs a day.
