Thats true to some extent. For example, take a car built by Chip Foose or Carroll Shelby and sell it. Its going to go for a good chunk of change, well more the what the actual car is worth. Its the same with this car. JUN is a very well know company for producing some nice cars, so the same would go for this car, its worth a good chunk of change. And think about it, its only a few thousand over KBB for a car thats built with quality parts.tmarsh;80165 wrote:Modifications do not increase the value of a car, except to those who care about it. To most nutsacks out there, I'm sure that car is worth more than $10,500. To me, the car is more hassle than it's worth, and so it's barely worth anything. I'd be more interested if it was being parted out.

Denied. Carroll Shelby hasn't built a car in a million billion years, he just slaps his name on everything in sight to jack the price up for a now perceived "collectors item." Chip Foose doesn't have a catalogue of parts to chuck at every car he makes. Most often, the wheels, suspension, bodywork, interior and engine are one-off custom jobbers, which make them very difficult to recreate. I guarantee that it would be much easier, and cheaper, to buy yourself a Civic and throw the JUN parts catalogue at it than to recreate your favorite magzine hotrod. So stop comparing apples to oranges to old stinky fucks in cowboy hats, Robbo, or I'll treat you like Earnhardt Sr. again. :dead:SilverStreak;80189 wrote:Thats true to some extent. You are not wrong, but not right either. I don't know if this car has been well maintained or has a log book in it's time of private ownership, but well documented race cars fetch big dollars.tmarsh;80165 wrote:Modifications do not increase the value of a car, except to those who care about it. Check out how much some of those miatas are going for. Modifications do not add to the value of street cars in my opinion. But a purpose built race car built by a company like JUN, that is another thing.
I don't car that the car was in a magazine ad, I just think it deserves alittle credit. And if I was looking to buy a race car, 10K for a car already setup with some history in racing is a steal.

Uh...this isn't a race car. It was owned by an individual, sponsered by BF Goodrich, built by JUN and featured in some magazine ads, articles and car shows.

There's a difference between putting "race" parts on a street car and an actual racecar.
*edit* hmm, looks like the above article is for the sister car. Either that or someone was a major copycat.

what are yo utalking about race parts? in my mind there is no "race: part that cant be put on a street car. this car is fast. runs low 13's na? full tanabe suspension? te37's? this car is worthy of being a track car :drive:tmarsh;80261 wrote:Uh...this isn't a race car. +1. Tim's just been deepthroating a lot of corvette owners lately, and is pissed at the whole honda world. :PDT_kos:bildo16;80296 wrote:what are yo utalking about race parts? in my mind there is no "race: part that cant be put on a street car. this car is fast. runs low 13's na? full tanabe suspension? te37's? this car is worthy of being a track car :drive:

Oh snap, my car had te37s, bucket seats and adjustable suspension on it....does that mean it was 2/3 of a racecar? No, no it doesn't. 13s are not fast, period. Go pick up any honduh magazine and you'll find people running 11s or better, turbo or NA in track and street legal cars.bildo16;80296 wrote:what are yo utalking about race parts? in my mind there is no "race: part that cant be put on a street car. this car is fast. runs low 13's na? full tanabe suspension? te37's? this car is worthy of being a track car :drive:

ahhh, i see, you are straight line guy. for this car being built 6 years ago, there werent many na hondas that could touch it. instead of ripping on honduhs on a honda website, why dont you go over to stlsr with the rest of the narrow minded domestic owners, and just remember, there's no replacement for displacement.:oregonian_scooter:tmarsh;80317 wrote:Oh snap, my car had te37s, bucket seats and adjustable suspension on it....does that mean it was 2/3 of a racecar? Care to point out where I mentioned anything other than Hondas in my previous post? Bottom line is, Here are some race cars for sale. A Civic with full interior, no cage, street tires and a hotted up engine is not a race car.
