Paying for a name? Maybe some brands are like that, but there are a lot that aren't. Back to the Volk/Rota comparison. Honestly, if you put those two brand of wheels in a structural integrity test, I'm sure the Volks will come out being the stronger rim. As well as being lighter. With it being lighter, it has less rotational mass. I picked up a Volk TE37 rim with a tire mounted on it one time. It was lighter than just one of my rims alone without a tire. BBS rims are the same.

volks weigh less than rotas? how much lighter do i need to go? when i weighed them they were about 17 lbs for a 17 inch rim. you honda guys and your rims. i hit a pothole that sheared off two grade 8 motor mount bolts and my rim is still round.

throw some numbers out here....tires alone can weigh 15-25 pounds (for a 15 inch tire). You must have picked up a heavy rim.
