So me and my Fiance currently have a 10lb Weener dog. We are wanting to get a bigger dog now. We spent all day yesterday searching around and visiting some adoption rescue places. We found a couple that striked our interest.
First: Kobe
Doberman
90lbs
1 1/2 years old.
HATES cats... went for a cage on the walk back inside.
Other than that, real sweet dog. Good enough for my 110lb fiance to walk him around.
Second: Moe
Pitbull
55lbs
2 years old
Has a sign on the cage that reads: "dont give me toys... I eat them" lol
Seems very distructive and I dont think he would do very good with the weener dog.
We are taking our weener dog back to see Kobe tomorrow to see how he acts with her. I'm just looking for thoughts, ideas, other dog possibilities?

I personally don't know a thing about Dobermans, but I have three pit bulls. All tree of mine are very destructive when it comes to toys, but they don't chew on anything that is not theirs. I didn't have to do much training with that, they just kinda knew what they could chew on and they have plenty of toys to play with. I buy motorized wheel chair tires for them that are only $1 and they last for a long time, everything else gets torn up in a matter of minutes. They are all three very socialized and do great with small dogs. I would never leave them out in the house alone for an extended period of time with a small dog just for precautionary purposes. Pit bulls are very loyal dogs and very willing to please, but like any other dog, how old they are, how they were raised, how well socialized they are, and just what kind of personality they have makes a huge difference from dog to dog.
Another idea for you would be that Tom and Steph's puppy Mugen (also a pit bull) is having puppies, you may want to talk to them about possibly getting one. (I don't know who all has dibs on the puppies yet) But then you would know the whole history behind your puppy.

are you wanting a puppy or a dog thats already grown? here's the only thing with getting a grown dog from a rescue shelter.. the majority of them will need alot of training and usually have a shady past. not all of them, but most are set in their ways. how old is your daschund? its definitely a GREAT idea to take your dog with you when picking out another dog.
I hate Rick.

Dobermans are really good dogs, they're loyal and very sweet. Kate's dogs are awesome though, so it's a toss up. I say go with whoever your puppy gets along with best.
