Concerning signature regulations...

Post by JesSi »

Let me start out by saying I am not trying to stir up shit or anything like that, I realize the need for signature regulations but if we're going to start cracking down on this then we must be completely fair.

So signature photos must be 150x600 in dimension, well what about all of the quotes and extra text that people add to their signatures in addition to a signature picture to make it even bigger? The only reason I mention this is because I recently incorporated all of my extra text into my signature picture only to have my signature modified due to the dimension violation...

So what are the regulations for this?

yes it mainly pertains to pics because you cannot measure the text in pixel size like a dedicated photo

I would assume the sig pic size is for loading time of pages. It takes no time to send test, but like in threads with alot of pics it takes time to load. How would you like that for every thread you click? The size here is larger than most any forum I am part of.

i could do this (and want to):

but then i would get chewed out by many for doing it without giving them proper time to change their signatures. and wether i give them a hour or one month, people will still complain that i didnt give them enough time.

technically... the images dont take up any more of the servers bandwidth than straight text does. it is actually just text coding that gets transferred and processed by the server. its like that because most people use a third party hosting company to host their images. the server tells the users computer to go to the destination of the link(hosting site) and then the users computer is the one that has to go to the hosting site and transfer the image. once this happens the first time the users computer does it, it isnt loaded anymore from the link, its loaded loacally from the user computers cashe.

make sense? if not, i can try to explain it a different way.

and jessi, originally i had the signature image size set to 600x100, but everyone wanted 150.

Well I tried REMOVING my own sig pic, and just adding text, to make it an 'all-text' signature and i kept getting the message that i wasn't allowed to.
