This is the news story that me mom called me about last night while we were at Sonic....Crazy!
ST. LOUIS - About 200 people were trapped inside the 630-foot Gateway Arch for about two hours after an apparent power outage, authorities said.

The power went out around 8:45 p.m. Saturday, stalling two trams filled with about 40 people each, said Mike Maris, deputy superintendent of the Gateway Arch.
About 100 other people were stranded at the top of the monument of stainless steel, Maris said. He said the evacuation of the south tram, where one of nine cables may have broken, took about two hours.
Power eventually was restored to the north tram, and stranded visitors no longer had to use the stairs to evacuate, said Capt. Steve Simpson, a spokesman for the St. Louis Fire Department. He said officials do not know what happened to the equipment.
Simpson said rescue crews treated two people. One was given oxygen and the other was diabetic. He did not elaborate on their treatment.
"Everybody else seemed to be in good spirits, glad and relieved to be coming down," he said.
Anxious relatives stood outside the popular tourist attraction as rescuers worked inside. Dozens of emergency vehicles surrounded the arch.
Maris said the Arch would be open Sunday with only the north tram running.
The 630-foot-tall structure is operated by the National Park Service and opened in 1966. It is one of the region's most popular attractions.

People trapped in Arch
Had to post this. My friend Dustin, wrote a blog about it....
In what most people are calling the most boring disaster in a National Monument ever, over a hundred people are trapped up in the St. Louis Arch, after a power outage. Now for those of you who have never been to the St. Louis Arch, let me describe it for you. You get in this tiny cage/elevator that takes over 4 minutes to ascend to the top of the arch.
On a cool fall's day, the arch is a musty, b.o. smelling, torture chamber. You basically go to the top, which isn't that high, and you see the Mighty Mississippi in all her muddy, contaminated glory. To the left you'll see a lot of old people on oxygen machines, desperately trying to win it big on their penny machines on the Casino Queen. There also used to be the most inconvenient McDonalds ever. It was a McDonalds on a riverboat, that was permanently docked. Soooo....why don't you just put it on land? Permanently docking a boat is like Lindsay Lohan living past the age of 30, it's just not meant to be. Anyway now that, McDonalds is gone, you get a better view of all the junkies, and strip clubs across the river. The St. Louis Arch; Bring the whole family!
Anyway, so on a good day, going up in the arch is a miserable experience. Now imagine it's midnight, in the middle of July, and you're stuck in a pitch black arch. How many people are wishing they used the bathroom before they went up? How many guys are trying to convince the women that it's the end of the world, and they must procreate to continue the human race? How many people are procreating? What are the odds that they've already gone Lord of the Flies, and are using the nerdy guys glasses to start a signal fire? One guy's like "It's too hot in here I can't breathe! I have Asthma." Then this Bully guy's like, "Sucks to your Asthmar!!" Then he crushes him with a rock.
Ahh, I miss Summer Camps....
