I just bought a hookah...

Probably shouldn't have, but oh well. It also came with a free mini hookah, so if anyone wants to buy it for cheap ($20), it's yours - comes w/ carrying case.

Can't wait to smoke it!

Here's the quick an dirty:
you take shisha, which is tobacco + flavored molasses and put it in a bowl @ the top:

and then you cover that with a screen or foil (foil = cheap), poking holes in the foil for air to travel through.

Next you put a coal ontop of the foil (kinda like charcoal, but smaller).

Base of the hookah hold water (or any other liquid you want to use) and works similar to a bong. You suck on the hose, air gets pulled through the base, up the tube and then through the bowl at the top. The moving air draws in the heat-soaked air from the coal which "steams" (my term) the shisha (flavored tobacco) in the bowl and passes the smoke through the system and into your mouth/lungs.

With the purchase, I got two 100g packs of tobacco. I got Banana Split and Sweet Melon.

So its basically flavored tobacco?

hmmm, interesting. Does the tabacco taste sweet, kinda like a clove or something?

Yup.

I typically fill my bases with water + ice so it cools the shit down nice and good. And since you're not putting direct flame onto the tobacco it doesn't make a mess of the water.

It all depends on what flavor you pick.
