One in a million huh? I guess I was one in a million too. I went to six flags on mothers day of 1998, 10 years old, Had an awesome day, Got to the end of the park and only one ride left. Just so happend to be the one that I don't Like, know as.......The Screaming Eagle.....I was also my brothers birthday so he wanted to ride it, I didn't, but my parents told me to because they didn't want him to go on it alone, so I agreed. Ride started...went great....got to the very last turn before docking...and then..................................................................................................................................I couldn't move. I was paralyzed for about 10 minutes, the jolt of the turn broke a bone in my neck causing my #1 vertebrea to slide and pinch my spinal cord. Pinching every nerve in my entire body. The ride stopped and my brother started yelling at me to get off, I couldn't, the only thing that I could move was my eye's. Everyone knows what your arm/leg feels like when it falls asleep right? Thats because a nerve is being pinched. Well my entire body felt like that only 150 times worse because it was so close to my brain. My brother kept yelling at me to get off and I could even talk, so he walked over lifted the bar and picked/drug me out of the car onto the pavement, when he did that it jarred the vertebrea again and released the tension of my spinal cord. I then was able to move again but hurt like a mother fucker. I had no idea it was my neck because everything hurt the same. After about a couple minutes of standing there I walked down the steps very slowly to my awaiting parents. They had no idea what happened, so we walked all the way across the park to the First Aid station by the entrance. (stupid location) The ladies in there said they just thought it was whip lash, however, there was an off duty paramedic in there that was listining and said something doesn't sound right, so she did a couple little tests and said she's calling a wambulance, she put me in a neck brace, strapped me to a plastic back board and sent me to St.Joe's hospital.

Sorry I got tired of typing, So anyways to continue....once I got to the hospital I went through 6 hours of testing, mri's,cat scans,x-ray's and what not. They new that the problem was in my neck but couldn't for some strange reason fiqure out where, so the next morning they transported me to children's hospital in Saint Louis. There they fiqured out what was wrong. Turns out this has only happened to two other people in the world before, a 20 year old who got in a car accident and didn't survive, and the one and only (god what a freaking coincedence that im posting this in this thread.)
amazing Superman...Christopher Reeve. Thats right, he broke his next the exact same way I did, execpt he fell off of a horse, and mine happenend on a roller coaster. The only reason that to this day I am walking and he was not....when his spinal cord got pinched by his first vertebrea it was a difference of 2/100ths of an inch further than mine....doing such damage to his that he was permentaley paralyzed. Thats how close I came to being in a wheel chair for the rest of my life. There was only one doctor in the world who has done that surgery, he was a specialist from New Zealand. He worked on Mr. Reeve's and the poor kid that died die to other complications. He was flown into St.Louis to do the surgery on my neck. After a month in the Hospital and another month retraing my severly weakend leg muscles to keep me stable, I was able to walk again. I was in a neck brace for 2 and a half years. I have two screws in my neck, drilled through #2 vertebrea and #1 vertebrea to keep them from moving and pinching my spinal cord again.

nope they didn't pick up the tab, they didn't offer to help, they just acted like nothing ever happenend. Just to clearify...NO WE DID NOT SUE THEM...at the time my parents werent worried about that, they just wanted my better. Everybody also wasn't so sue happy ten years ago. I forgot to mention that they shaved bone marrow off my right hip to "wrap" around the screws so they heal up all one piece(bone). Anyway since then I have had severe back problems, I have been to every docter, chiropracter, specialist, anything and everything one could possibly think of to go to. I taken every muscle relaxer, pain killer, ect...except for oxy cotton which I refuse to touch. Nobody I have ever been to can fiqure out what is wrong with my back, it is progressivley getting worse to the point that I cant lift anything heavy, I cant sit or stand for more that 15 minutes, I cant bend over fast, stand up fast, turn fast or any freaking thing that a 19 year old is supposed to be able to do with absolutely no problems. One specialist I went to said I have the back of an 80 year old man that has done construction all his life. My back is killing me sitting here typing this right now. Anyway since we have spent so much on trying to figure out whats wrong with my back, thinking that there's a good chance that it's messed up because of my neck, we decided to attempt to sue six flags for what it's costing us to fix my back, assuming that it could be proven that my back problems are coming from my neck. Well it turns out that we can't sue them because one of the doctor's at St. Joe's wrote in his report that I said that my neck hurt before I went on the ride, which is completely false. I had never once in all of my whopping 10 years felt any pain of discomfort in my neck. He like many doctors wrote that in his report knowing that this was going to be a lawsuit...like the lawyer I had said, "He wrote that in there to either: 1. keep himself out of court and having to testify or 2.He was contacted/paid off from Six Flags so they could avoid a lawsuit. Which either way worked perfectly well because since that was written we had absolutely no chance anymore to sue them.
