Made a typo, said 0.03% when it's 3%.

Lets also take a look at the type of person that uses each browser. Opera users are usually people that know what they are doing and dont click at random. FF users have mostly thoes people but is becoming more accepted. IE everyone and their mom uses. The results are very skewed.JonDubya;50107 wrote:Be sure to get the security patches.
Here's the most recent data I could find (source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usage_shar ... b_browsers)
Quarter / IE / Netscape / Mozilla/FF / Opera / Safari
Q2 2007 / 83.20% / 0.06% / 12.22% / 0.58% / 2.94%
Sum of three browsers = 61508
Percent breakdown on affected browsers:
IE % = 84.5%
FF % = 15.5%
OP % = 0.02%
That's only 3% of all Opera users (based on percentages above) affected compared to over 100% of the estimated averages for Firefox and IE. That means that EVERY person using FF or IE that accessed the sites was affected (from a scalar POV). Theres the proof.

Yes and no. I've clicked on stuff in the past, which I knew was bad, but even when that happens, it won't auto-install like IE & [maybe] FF. Instead it'll prompt you to open/save/cancel the file; so it has built-in safe guards for even those less technical.btlfedgolf;50118 wrote:Lets also take a look at the type of person that uses each browser. Some other interesting info:
The browser on the Wii is Opera.
Opera has a site-checking service just like FF & IE.
Pop-up blocking is more intelligent than FF & IE.
Opera has a built-in BitTorrent client.

If you were able to find a set of malicious sites, I guarantee that Opera will be immune to most, if not all automated scripts and outperform IE & FF on any web-based security exploit.

I'll check my email when I get home, I'm sure there's something in there. Win XP OS? That makes a huge difference (vs *nix).btlfedgolf;50126 wrote:prove it. You find the sites, I have a dummy computer.
Or just go to some random .it sites, lol.
