i would never run a windows server. no offense.
but i guess thats what comes with being a system admin/programmer for a big name company.

this site is running on windows. only times its been down is when the power went out back in december, when i blow breakers with the air compressor, and when i was playing with the database and couldnt figure out how to restore it. all problems not related to windows.

is the server used for anything else besides this forum? we use the linux servers to process quite a few terrabytes of data a day, run multiple web sites, run a sql database, and numerous other apps and data storage.

its used for the forum (php, mysql, vbulletin), ftp, and my domain controller. its not used for terrabytes of data, its just sittin down in my basement humming along enjoying itself with the forum.

i use a windows xp desktop at work to run a simple website, mysql, ftp server, domain controller and some other stuff, it chugs along.
