yes, he's a jerk. my buddy Shaun is the one that prepped your bike. i actually met up w/ him tonight in soco.

they've all agreed you just bought the worst bike ever for your height, weight, lack of experience, etc. lol you'll tire of it quickly if you don't hurt yourself first. just be smart for once.

ya....that's a bit hard to do when i'd come out of class to find it knocked over already. luckily i had ppl to help me, and trust me, if i saw it happen, esp to MY bike, i'd kill ppl.

I'm actually looking at picking up an old cb750 as my first bike, for under 1500. If all goes well, should have it within the week or so. I originally wanted a rebel250 because of how it looks and how it sat a lot lower than most others, but people talked me out of it because it is a small cc bike.

I want a KTM 990 Super Duke, but insurance is like $140 a month, is that normal? I just thought it was a little high. But what do I know...

No one can can make a better judgement call on what I feel is the right bike for me. I knew exactly what I was buying and it's exactly what I wanted. Considering it's about the same size as a 500cc, I think I did just fine. And if I wanted to blow $2,500 on a 12+ year old bike that's all Fucked up, torn to hell, and has transmission problems, then I would've done that.

here's where SQUIDs come in.

the CC has not that much to do w/ killing yourself/wrecking. it's the WRIST, the RIDER, not the bike necessarily. squids(newbs for the non-bikers) just don't know this, and many riders never learn it. i know a few ppl that race 250's that wipe a 750's ass all day long for them.

i commend you for getting that small of a bike, but remember, you can die on that thing too. i DON'T commend you for getting a brand new bike. you just got too antzy and didn't look hard enough for something older. you also didn't need to get a bike a decade+ older, b/c TRUST ME, they're out there everywhere that are in fine condition.

joining MWR should've probably happened BEFORE you got a bike, so you could ask as many Q's as possible, and where to find a bike.

just remember...you are now the weakest link on the road/lots, sidewalks, etc.

absolutely horrible. i paid $23 a month on my 01 cbr600. granted, i'm a girl with a perfect driving record, and no accidents/tickets. i know guys that are younger than me(i'll be 24 in 2 months), w/ messed up driving records, that pay just as little, if not less than i did.

and before anyone asks, b/c someone always does...

YOU CANNOT GET LIABILITY ON A BIKE. that is why bike insurance is so cheap, b/c most providers anticipate on you getting injured/killed. it would be absolutely retarded to offer it b/c there's almost SOME sort of injury when wrecking.

lol very true.

often drivers try to hit riders though. i've had 2 close calls w/in the last month and a 1/2 of assholes riding your ass and intentionally swerving at you.

the streets are a whole different world on a bike.

I was just talking to my friend today who rides about me getting a bike. He said basically the first thing you should do is just kick the bike over and get that out of the way, lol.
