ok to start off i have alot of dream cars some practical others "not so much," i believe we all can relate. well i have been working on this hatchback for a while and really not getting to far on it b/c there is alot to be completed on it but one of my dreams is to have a fast hatch and hear that vtec scream i would say its 45% completed. well my friend brought this 1995 bmw m3 with 170k that he is willing to get rid off for 5k dollars books for 11 and has alot of potential the body is in awesome shape no rust so thats something i wouldnt have to deal with, now to the bad it needs a new clutch, maybe a valve job and a drivers seat that i know of, nothing a couple performance parts cant fix. my main goal in life is to participate in a road race at nurenburg (spelling i know) so my goal is for twistys maybe not as elaborate as nurenburg but something to the sort. now i have built my hatch with every high quality part available, and i still dont know that it will be able to perform as good as the m3 with just a few bolt ons.
-cost of parts now while quality parts for a honda mught be expensive, bmw parts are outrageously expensive.
-cost of repairs; most of the stuff for the honda i can do on my own or have friends help, the m3 on the other hand might have to be sent out to get fixed.
-money: i have a rough estimate on how much the hatch is going to cost, but have no clue on the m3
im sorry if it seems i am rambling there is just alot of things going on in my head now so what i am asking from you guys is some unbiased opinions to help me decide what to do
edit i would keep the si no matter what and depending on the money sell the hatch or put on hold

Ok bro, that is ALOT of miles for an M3. Is it E36 or what? I'm bias in that I think the M3 is a much better choice over a civic Si. But I gurantee on this site you will get alot of the KEEP the Si stuff, try it on STLSR, you will have a more balanced opinion, well at least to a certain degree anyway. My choice would completely depend on what I wanted to do with the car, what generla shape it is in, and whether or not I would have to replace alot of things immediatly after I buy it to keep it running. Too many variables, but in my opinion, M3 FTW.06sik20z3;44824 wrote:ok to start off i have alot of dream cars some practical others "not so much," i believe we all can relate. well i have been working on this hatchback for a while and really not getting to far on it b/c there is alot to be completed on it but one of my dreams is to have a fast hatch and hear that vtec scream i would say its 45% completed. well my friend brought this 1995 bmw m3 with 170k that he is willing to get rid off for 5k dollars books for 11 and has alot of potential the body is in awesome shape no rust so thats something i wouldnt have to deal with, now to the bad it needs a new clutch, maybe a valve job and a drivers seat that i know of, nothing a couple performance parts cant fix. my main goal in life is to participate in a road race at nurenburg (spelling i know) so my goal is for twistys maybe not as elaborate as nurenburg but something to the sort. now i have built my hatch with every high quality part available, and i still dont know that it will be able to perform as good as the m3 with just a few bolt ons.

You don't know what you're talking about. You're not very smart, and the things you're saying are nonsense. And I'm not angry. But you do need to shut up.

Then sell the hatch and get that M3, I don't even see how this should be an object worth asking about.06sik20z3;44826 wrote:ok to clarify i would keep the si no matter what and depending on the money sell the hatch or put on hold

insurance i pay a 125 dollars right now for both the hatch and the si and if i had to get insurance on the bimmer full coverage with the si and m3 would be 220 bucks a month and with liability on it would drop down to 125 so i would have to pay outright for the car jeez too much on my mind right now

Clayton if I had the money I would do the m3 and part put the hatch. No offense but do you really feel like spending that much time into it? If the M3 is complete just learn about it and fix the parts that are wrong with it. GL on whatever you do man.

The M3 is a better car hands down. But if you are not making a lot of head way on a very inexpensive to mod civic, good look with the M3. Esp one with that high of mileage. Who knows what needs to be replaced on that, and general matnanince on the Bimmer is going to more then likely be higher then a civic.
