Continue playing hockey? what would you do?

Post by 00siandrew »

Well, Im only 18 years old and last night suffered my fourth knee injury. All from playing hockey. Three dislocations and one fracture. I am now beginning to question if it's worth it anymore. Just wondering how you older guys (if there are any "old" guys) feel after abusing your body for so many years in a sport. Because obviously knees are important and I dont want to be 30 something and already having both my knees replaced. If you have any input on what youve been through and how you feel now that'd be great, I hate to give up a sport Ive been playing for more than 2/3 my life, but these injuries are getting rediculous. Thanks in advance.

i know how you feel, but there is a time in life when you just say ok and move on. ill probly never play again and im coll with that. find somethen else, golf or something ( your car???) but either way it's just something you have to decide hockey or no hockey. you talk to your mom or steven about it?

stop now or take it easy, if you can im 26 and have a bad hip, bad back, bad ankle, have torn my rotator cuff, dislocated my shoulder 3-4 times, have had multiple concussions, both my elbows are fucked the list goes on and on and its all from riding bikes and doing stupid shit. look at this way if you can deal with getting up every morning in pain, keep playing your probably gonna have problems when your older anyway, but then again if your passionate about it and just cant deal with not playing dont stop...

Never stop keep on playing untill you hate to play then play more. I'm 27 I have been playing hockey for over 15 years and doing all kind of shit that fucked my body up. Yeah it sucks when you get hurt but if you stop playing you will just get hurt doing some else.

Are you passionate about the sport? Cause I was very pasionate about hockey for eight years strait thats all I played. Then I recived my first car! :) I kinda just left the sport after two broken ribs, fingers and a toe! You already know whats going to happen to you if you keep playing! Just decide whats more important.

The way I look at it is if your passionate about it then youll play til you die. But if you dont love it enough to do that then stop and call it quits. Its all up to you and decide how much you wanna hurt yourself.

shoot hockey. if you enjoy it so much and cant play it but would rather be around it as a hobby, take your photography into it. Granted it wont be the same as being out on the ice chasing a puck, but since youve been playing it for so long, you'll know the action points to shoot for.

You don't know what you're talking about. You're not very smart, and the things you're saying are nonsense. And I'm not angry. But you do need to shut up.
