Well this project started last weekend but was delayed till this weekend to finish due to having the piston wrist pins pushed out and pushed back into the new pistons. The whole reason why this project started was that my car kept over heating due to a faulty thermostat that over heated my block. So I tore the whole block down and cleaned every piece, honed the cylinders to get the glazing off so the new rings would seat, reoiled everything and put it togather. And since I was doing all this I bought some high compression pistons, thicker cometic head gasket to lower my compression out of the 12:1 compression ration, crower stage 2 cam, stiffer valve springs, cam gear, and a full engine gasket set. I was planning on rushing this build last weekend but after having the dalay I could take my time putting the block togather all week. Plus I had stuff setting in Cem-dip over night each night eating the old oil off of parts so it was a good thing it was delayed. I was kind of worried that my started wouldnt turn the motor over with the higher compression and bigger cam. But it did just fine!
Me and Jason finished up the rest of the connections today and filled it with fluid and got it running. I had to advance the spark all the way to get it to run right, i guess due to the bigger cam, so its got a nice lobe at idle. And after running in the rings the car has a ton more power up top than it did before!
So thanks to Jason and Steve, oh and Saa (steve's wife), for helping me put both weekends helping me get in and out the motor! And Thanks to Jewel-e for putting up with all my car work!
