I have a few pit bull questions.

Post by 99PreludeSh »

Ok so the red nose (Enzo) is almost 8 weeks old. I also have a Blue nose(Mugen) that is 7 months old. When they play Enzo chews on Mugen's cheeks and leaves lots of scabs and her cheeks are now swollen. She doesnt seem to mind it because she doesnt try and get him to stop or walk away. She even pics on Enzo more than the other way around.

Is this normal? How can I stop it, because I feel so bad Muges :(

Also is it a bad idea to put them in a cage together? They get a long very well but they just play a lot, and they are always with eachother out of the cage, and even when they sleep they sleep together.

And why does Enzo eat soooo dang much? Muges didnt eat nearly as much, and Enzo can never decide which bowl he wants to eat out of haha.

Thanks for the help!

well mugen is a female so that is why she did not as much as Enzo when she was a puppy and Red noses are usaully bigger anyways. and as for the cheek chewing thing I have no idea.

It is strongly advised by any pit bull publication to never leave them in the same kennel together. Nothing may happen while they are still young but you are still taking a risk. My pit Polleo is the nicest dog in the world but I would never put him in a kennel for any amount of time with another dog, especially unsupervised.

its normal for pits to play rough and for them to chew on each other, my boy play mouth wars and chew on each other all the time. Usally one of the boyz has one of the others by the cheeks and dragging them arround the house, so i would not worry about this at all.

Now as far as the food bowl goes this is typical male dominance issues, this should be stopped before he gets to old. Basically it's like this i feed my boys in their cages or in seperate rooms because my oldest likes to eat out of all the bowls, but the two younger boys do not like this at all and this leads to some growling, snapping and general grouchness
