removing wheel paint

Post by mr. brass »

Sorry to start such a wack thread, but you guys knows these wheels better than me. My stockers were painted black by the kid I got the car from. It looked like he did a good job, but thankfully he didn't. They started flaking off with a pressure washer yesterday. I want them normal again. I'm planning on going to the washer again on lunch and blasting them, but it takes forever. Whats the next best way to remove the paint without screwing up the wheels?
Thanks in advance!

are you wanting to remove all the paint down to the metal? if so air craft stripper works very nicely.

Air craft or Marine stripper will do the job if you want it completely stripped, and fast.

But if you do use those, make sure to wear rubber gloves.

Im wanting to keep the clear from the factory, i just want the spray paint gone. But I guess if I cant get that alone off, I will go the plane stripper, that stuff is the truth. I used some on a motorcycle frame and its was a done deal in like 3 minutes flat, haha. The finish on the wheels under the black paint looks so nice I just want that for now.

It will be hard to just strip off one level, I say aircraft stripper and then clear. I just finished painting 2 and as wear, wear gloves.
