Paint jobs, the real deal?
I can vouch for cheap jobs only lasting 2-3years. my car was painted as a school project in 2003, using all supplies provided by the school (which wasnt the best). with bodywork and evrything it cost about $400. This cost did not include door jambs either, it was a 2 week job so those weren't worried about. I am sure you all know from seeing my car around, It could use a new coat of paint already.

I have seen one once before, it was an 88 monte SS with a silver that had a hint of blue in it. I dont know how the hell it happened, but macco did a decent job, not the best, but good enough to look OEM99preludesh;17939 wrote:Every single Maaco I have been to does EVERYTHING half assed. I have yet to see a Maaco paint job look anywhere close to a decent shops paint job.

Im suprised with the reputation they have SOOO many people want their cars done by them.
Hey I heard that $250 ambassador paint job is a winner! *sarcasm* With it being a $250 paint job you know its not dont right at all, maybe sand down with a red scotch brite and straight into the booth, thats great prepration right there.

i worked at a body shop for a while, and i can def tell you from experience, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!!! cheap paint=cheap results. find a good shop that sprays good paint. most of the time, if they are sprayin duPont o sikkens, they have a decent thing going on(i sadi most of the time). MAACO=BAD!!!!!! when i left tech school, i had a few friends in auto collision, one was offered a job right out of school sprayin cars. i dont care how much you learned at school, nothing prepares you for spraying paint in a real life shop, except for a real life shop. so go to a few reputable shops, get some quotes, then go badck to the other shops, show them the other quotes and see if they will beat it. that is the best way to get a good paintjob for a fair price, cause in reality, they are all expensive.

so then say you had aproximately $1000 spending limit, give or take a couple hundred, had a few dings in the hood and maybe 2 small rust spots on the wheel wells, and were wanting a dark metallic green to last around 4-5 yrs. u think it could happen and be a good paint job? anywhere around here at least?

Oh yeah that can happen you just have to know the right people, but depending on how bad the rust is, it may not be $1000 give or take.Tyler;18573 wrote:so then say you had aproximately $1000 spending limit, give or take a couple hundred, had a few dings in the hood and maybe 2 small rust spots on the wheel wells, and were wanting a dark metallic green to last around 4-5 yrs. u think it could happen and be a good paint job? anywhere around here at least?
