ok so i was fixing my valve lash tonight (b18b). put the cover back on and made sure the gasket was sealed. it didnt turn over the first time i started it because stupid me forgot engines need spark to fire. i put the plug wires on and it started right up....for about 10 seconds.
its trying to turn over
no fuses are blown
engine is grounded
no wierd noises
i have tried 3 times now to try and get it to start but with no luck.
im really not sure what i could have done. i didnt touch anything else under the hood.
any info at all would be greatly appreciated
i killed it.

the "adjustment" was more like one of the nuts flew off on the exhaust side.. i took off the cover. found the nut, put it back on and adjusted the valve lash using a .007 feeler guage. put the cover back on and tried to turn the engine over, forgot to put the plug wires back in (derrrrrrrrrrr) put the wires in and started the engine and shortly after it died4Door;197265 wrote:how did you perform this valve adjustment?

did you do it one cylinder at a time like your supposed to? put cylinder 1 at tdc, adjust those valves, put cyl 3 at tdc, adjust that set, then put cyl 4 at tdc and adjust those and then set cyl 2 to tdc and do those?
i may not be "logical" but at least i can change my oil...

Ummm, the nut does not hold the valve up, the spring/retainer does. Even if he had a bent valve, the car would still start. I have seen Hondas start on 1 cyl.forcefed;197285 wrote:i bet when that nut came off it dropped the valve and bent it

check timing belt and marks on the gears. If that checks out.
check for spark with a screw driver next to a ground(definately time to get a test dummy friend just so you dont get shocked).
If there is spark take a test light and check the injector plugs for power. One wire on the plugs is always hot(while the ignition is on). Take a test light and ground it, test all plugs. One wire per plug should light it up. If that checks out put the test light on positive side of the battery and the wires that didnt light up just a second ago test them while a friend turns the engine over so the light acts like an injector the light should flash on and off pretty quickly.
If your spark and timing is right then it is something mechanically wrong in the engine itself. If none of that fixes it then do a compression test on it and that will tell you alot. Usually you can tell if compression is lost though. Usually it will turn over a lot faster than normal. If none of that fixes it pm more details and i'll help you.

i'm going with blown distributor since he tried starting it with the plug wires not connected.
Fuel, compression, spark. which one(s) don't you have?
