I read what you said beforehand, and you were blowing it off like it's not a big deal if you didn't get it fixed, thus idiocy.

They are supposed to have them on, otherwise its considered "intrapment." but in reality . . .

False. Entrapment is something completely different. Here's an example of entrapment:
Me (the cop): Hey, you should come check out these hot babes I got here.
You: ORLY, why's that?
Me: Cuz they'll fuck you for cheap!
You: ORLY, how much?
Me: $10.
You: Ok, here's $10.
Me: POLICE, you're under arrest.

Make sense? Basically they put you into a situation which you did not choose to be in willingly and then persuade/cause/force you to do something that is illegal.

OR
you are stabbing a woman to death and eating her entrails on the sidewalk and I (the cop) walk out of the donut store across the street and see you doing it and then arrest/beat the shit out of you. sure the BEATING might be unethical, and you can scream "Rodney King" all you want, but the fact that I didn't let you know I was in the donut store wasn't my fault, you were doing something wrong anyway, I just happened to be there to catch you.

same thing here, speed limit changes/municipality changes *especially with hills involved* are sure to be speed traps, proceed with caution.

that really wouldn't be entrapment either...he didn't force you to do anything...you were willing to hand over the $10...ever watch cops? That same sting is on all the time...

If a female cop undercover as a prostitute came up to you with a gun and told you you had to pay her $10 for sex, you hand over the $10 in fear for your life, she arrests you...THATS entrapment...

Anytime you are willing to break the law you are at fault...this dude was willing to break the law by speeding...the point that the cops lights were off is a moot point. Do they have to have their lights on during the day? Whats the difference?

It is entrapment. Quick definition:
The act of government agents or officials that induces a person to commit a crime he or she is not previously disposed to commit.
Granted there would have to be a fair amount of persuasion by the officer in my scenario.

I still dont agree...the guy was willing to hand over the $10, the officer didn't make him do anything...he could have said no thanks and walked away, but instead he solicited sex from the officer...

So modify it to say that he didn't want to at first, but then was persuaded to do it. You're nit picking and it's not really the point of the story.

Back to the topic. The only place the police can't sit and shoot radar, is "supposed to be" on private property like hidden in someones driveway off a main rd while shooting someone coming down that main rd. As for the lights...only if where they're sitting creates a danger to the public. In other words, they can pretty much do whatever they want. :boxer:
