I don't know if anyone else has been keeping up on this or not, but, apparently the Hornbeck kid had his own cell phone that the kid-napper got for him, and was allowed to have friends over and stayng the night and he was allowed to go out or to friend's houses as well.
So, again to speculate, either SEVERE brainwashing for the first year or more, or the guy just spoiled the kid so much that he didn't even want to go home.

P.S. If ya get a chance to see his parents on the news, check them out, they look pretty strung out to me.

As of now, since Shawn was allowed all that freedom, and hasn't come out and actually said that he was ever held captive against his will, the kid-napper is only facing ONE count of child abduction......this shit is crazy.
