MO Safety Inspection

Post by 99SilverCX »

Hey everyone,
I'm just wondering what kind of things the techs look for at the Safety Inspection?
My car is missing the interior, and the front bumper is held on by bailing wire, I'm just wondering if I should fix the stuff, or do they not care about that and check the important stuff like suspension/tires/bushings... etc.
Just post up what the techs at the inspection places have given you trouble for.
I have to get mine done this week.

head lights, horn, turn signals, good wipers, no big cracks in your windshield, full exhaust, cat, brake lights, proper rotor thickness, good brake pads, etc.

we dont check rotor thickness, just pad thickness. my normal run down goes like this: horn, outer lights, dash warning lights(BRAKE light and also high beam indicator) seat belts, then i move to the outer, drivers mirror mounting/cracked, fuel cap, head/tailight mounting and unbroken, wiper blades, windshield cracks and "bullseyes", under hood=emissions crap, power steering system, brake master cylinder and fluid level, lift the car up, pull the passenger front wheel, check pad thickness, brake line free of cracks, strut/spring not broken, put the wheel back on, check tie-rods, ball joints, wheel bearing play, lift vehicle all the way, check tires, exhaust, ps rack, sway bar end links, rear brake lines, tires. there is a lot of shit to check, and i probabl missed some, but thats the main things i look at.:bouncy:

could I bring it by your place to have it done on Monday?
I'll be checking stuff on sunday to make sure everything good, and will need to do the inspection on Monday, since my plates expire sunday lol, but I don't need emissions because I'm transfering the title from my mom, because I paid for the car a long time ago but never transferred a title, so because I'm listing it as a gift since I paid the sales tax on it already, I'm supposed to get temps for 30days so I can get the emissions stuff done.

i would say that they could fail you for the wipers, but the only way a ball joint will fail is if it has excessive play. all cars have specifications for ball joint play, on hondas they shouldnt have any movement at all.

Edit, Im not sure if we are open monday, i will get back with you.
