Well I had to teach dance tonight from 5-10 and I'm having horrible pains in my shins. How the hell do I get rid of this crap?
I also teach tomorrow night 7-10 and sometimes Wednesdays 8:30-11, sometimes Thursdays and I teach Fridays 5-8.
With school and work I really don't have much time to see my doctor and Tylenol crap doesn't do the trick.
So any suggestions on what it is and how to get rid of it? Like every time I do a switch leap or axle, or really anything that involves jumping I land and its a horrible nasty pain.
GAH im just going to cut my legs off from above the knee and down. Ahh maybe not my knees are worth over $300k, so I might have to save those.

sounds like you need to keep off of them for a while... I've had two friends end up with compound stress fractures in their feet without knowing how they did it(and both went undiagnosed for 8+months). One of them managed to do it in both feet at the same time. So be careful, if you don't take care of it now, it may only build up and put you out for a lot longer down the road.

I have most weekends off so thats 2 days right there. But im right back to school on my feet all day then a little break time while sitting down at work, and right back on my feet at dance. Its sucks but its what I have to do.

well, you should think about seeing a doctor if you keep feeling it into next week.

Possibly after graduation, which is in 7 days I might add hehe, Since I wont be going full time right away I can possibly go see him. But im always afraid to what the doctor is going to say. Because if he says the 4 words I NEVER want to here I'll punch him in the face. Not really but i'd be really upset.

what did the doctor do to deserve that? you can always go to a clinic and have them take xrays and whatnot to see if they can find a problem. it sounds like it could end up being a stress fracture if you spend all day every day on your feet like you said.99preludesh;2971 wrote:Possibly after graduation, which is in 7 days I might add hehe, Since I wont be going full time right away I can possibly go see him. If he tells me I cant dance anymore he deserves a punch in the face. This is my 20th year of dance so its kind of a habit now and I dont want him to tell me I cant.Spork;2972 wrote:what did the doctor do to deserve that? you can always go to a clinic and have them take xrays and whatnot to see if they can find a problem. it sounds like it could end up being a stress fracture if you spend all day every day on your feet like you said.
But yeah I will just have to go to him after I graduate because I will have more time. Thanks for the help!

I had a teacher who ran a marathon and finished and was just fine, then the muscles in his leg tightened up so much they fractured the bone, and he couldn't walk for weeks. its true, he told us.

seeing a doc is the best thing, but in the meantime try standing on the edge of a step facing towards the steps. raise and lower yourself on your toes. not only does it help you calves, but it'll help your shins. i've had this problem plenty of times. it's a feel good pain at first, and it hurts like a bia..but it works til you see a doc.

At the gym I do the raise-ups with 80lbs on my shoulders and on a smaller step. Im mostly workin on my calves but that kills the shins too.
