Tokico HP Kit vs. Eibach Pro-System Kit (Shock/spring combo's)

Post by ZenkiS14 »

I have less than $500 I can spend on a simple new suspension kit for my car. I want to lower it roughly 1.5" and have a very smooth reliable ride quality. This is my daily driver, not my toy car.

I'd like to hear from people using either kit, but would definately like to hear from those who have used both.

Which is a better quality kit? (From experience, not "he-said/she-said" shit)

I've pretty much decided on the Tokico kit, unless someone has actually experience with it and says they had major problems. Or they used teh Pro-Kit System and says its absolutely no questions asked worth the extra money.

My "Blackhatch" had Tokico BLues and H+R springs and I loved the setup. Very easy to use and it got the job done, didn't break the bank, and i enjoyed the ride quality.

I had EIBACH on my old '93 four door... I wasn't pleased to be honest, but that is my personal opinion.

I'd go the Tokico route.
I'm still a neighborhood ASSHOLE!

As was said in your thread on HT, Tokico Blues are equivalent to an OEM replacement strut. Eibach is the way to go. They offer a great warranty and it's still within your price range.

From the thread title you're considering the Pro-System, but posted a picture of the Sport-System. I've had the Pro-Kit springs on one of my cars and you really don't notice a more then a very slight difference between stock ride height and the lowering spring. Considering your wanting to lower the car about 1.5" and it's still within your price range, I would suggest going with the Sport-System. Eibach clams the Sportline springs lower the car 1.6" all around while the Pro-Kit springs only lower 1.4" in the front and 1.2" in the rear.

I found Discount Tire selling the Sport-System for $414.00 shipped. Good luck, Kyle.

That looks like an awesome deal, but I had thought that hte Sportline lowered it like 2" or more or something. I definately dont want to slam this at all.

eibach is usally off on their lowering specs... youll maybe get a 1" usally when people tell me they put JUST eibach lowering springs on their car i say when cause it looks stock... and honestly if your stuff is all worn out not it may actually raise the car with new struts and springs

if it were me i would order kyb 's GR2's and h&r sport or race springs

same price as the stuff you were looking at but in my eyes ALOT better strut and spring then the tokiko stuff

i had blues and hated them SOOO much on my eg it wasnt funny.... my favorite set up is typically KYB AGX struts and Ground controll sleeves , but thays out of your budget

also 2" isnt slamming anything on a civic... my cars are typically dropped 4-5" so you have ALOT to go to worry about slamming..... have rob post up a pic of his hatch and see if you like his ride height

Nope. 1.6". And 2" is far from slammed.

For reference, my '96 Civic with the Eibach Pro-Kit. Still looked like stock ride height. Since your on a budget, and if this is the ride height you're looking for just buy some stock shocks. Use the money you saved to get the S14 running.

Pick a good shock and go with the H&R springs, idk which ones my brother has on his coupe, but they give a good even ride height.

Hmmmm....Well, I do want to lower it a bit. Im putting a bit of money into it, so It'd be cool to finally have a "cool" daily driver.

I might actually snag that Sportline kit, if I'm only gonna get a 1.6" drop out of it, that might be exactly what I want. I dont want any lower than that though. I still have to drive this thing in the snow, and drive to rock climbing and mountain bikes spots that typically have rough terrain.

You think the dampers that come on the Sportline kit are better quality than the Blues?

Any strut ever made is better then Tokico Blue's.
