Issues after having new lowering springs and struts installed.

Post by eh2gurl »

So I recently had new Tein H-Tech lowering springs and Koni STR-t non-adjustable struts installed. Oem lower control arms with urethane bushings were also installed. Im pretty sure everything else on the suspension is original. So after having this done, I noticed that the passenger's side of the car sits significantly higher than the driver's side. There are also a lot of new squeaks. It squeaks while driving or just getting in out of the car. Im not a mechanic, but any suggestions or referral to a shop that would be able to help with these types of problems would be much appreciated.

Who did it? They probably tightened all the bolts and stuff with the car in the air, and not on the ground like you should. Could also have installed the springs on the struts incorrectly.

to add on to wht phate said if they didnt replace the upper strut mounts those could make a little noise and sag as well. also if they did not use any lube on the urethane bushings it will squeak badly. also where the strut mouts to the fork could not be seated correctly. if you live close to cottleville you can stop by my house i can fix you up.

I was not around to watch how it was installed, but I will find out if those suggestions might be part of the problem. Also, Its obvious that this car has been a wreck before, and not repaired very well. I did not notice that the car sat crooked before the new suspension parts went on, but thats not to say that it didn't. Im thinking about taking it up to west county auto body next week, I really don't know what else to do. As far as i know that is a pretty decent shop, not sure if they will be able to help or not though.

I did ask about the bushings, I read that the urethane bushings in particular are quite noisy if not lubricated, but they were indeed lubricated.

Well like Clayton said, atleast let someone look at it before you take it somewhere and throw all your money away. Might be something simple.

all of the bushings were put under load before tightening. The forks are in the correct position, Springs are set correctly. And the Bushings were installled with FULL SYNTHETIC GREASE. The strut mount bushings were not dry rotten or cracked but were original.
