Squealing Sound = New Brakes?

Post by Dan The Man »

Quick question, I think i have an idea of whats wrong but before I order the wrong parts I need opinions.

A few days ago I started hearing a slight squealing coming from the front right wheel when driving on the highway. Every day I hear this sound more, and now it occurs when I'm driving around town too. The sound goes away while I apply pressure on the brakes, and goes away for a few minutes if I apply harder pressure.

I'm guessing this noise is coming from the brake pad wear indicators, but does the fact that it stops when I brake suggest it's a bad wheel bearing? Any info you know would be great. Thanks.

A wheel bearing usually grinds. A good way to rule it out is to jack the car up and grab the top and bottom of your wheel and rock it, if it moves there is a good chance you need a bearing.

Just put wheel bearing grease on your pads - no more squeaking

You may have to increase your braking distances however :yelrotflmao:

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.
Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you take the wall with you.
Hope this helps
