Drum to Disk?

Post by delslo »

So I'm slowly but surely making my weakazz Del Sol fun again. (RIP Red Del) Anyway the replacement del has rear drum brakes and I need new brakes either way.

Question is, how cheap is a brake upgrade and how easy it it to install?

Are we talking about an upgrade from OE drum to OE disk? Or are you going with a full aftermarket system?

Most likely a full after market system, maybe not full, just want after market discs on all 4 wheels.

Well if you are going with something like drilled and slotted and not a big break kit then it is simple. First you will need to folow the steps in risktypes's link, then simply change out the rotors.

Its pretty easy, just soak everything in PBblaster and use a line wrench on the brake lines so you dont strip shit out...
I did my del sol yesterday with no real issues.

depends on where you buy it/them, how many you buy, if its a set or individual wrenches, etc... they can be reasonably priced.
