Lower Ball Joint Replacement

Post by jpciii »

Advance Auto Parts rents out a 6 piece front end service kit that has a nice variety of tools to free your ball joints and tie rod ends. Also, I suggest getting a snap ring tool. I borrowed my dads.

Lower Ball Joint Replacement

Post by stussycole »

Well, the passenger side is done. I was very careful and checked the threads on the upper ball joint and tie rod end as soon as I removed them and both were fine. I used the BFH method to remove the old lower ball joint and the nice soft piece of pine over the new ball joint and the BFH for the installation. I put it all back together, tightened everything to spec, installed new cotter pins, and...I think everything is correct. I took it for a quick spin and there were no issues, no clanking, no banging, brakes worked, and no trail of tranny fluid, so I think it will be onto the drivers side on Wednesday. Hopefully, I will not need to purchase any new parts for this side.

Anyone know a good place to get a Honda friendly ball joint/tie rod end remover? Thanks.

Our shop is rated for well more then that, and the tank it's connected to well lets just say chris "DC2Whore" tried to kill me with a flying hose in the shop...

But it was funny lol, also good advice on the lower ball joints.
