Traction...at a loss

Post by civisi »

I am working on a build right now and for in the future, b18c1. I was wondering if anyone had some really good tires they would recommend running for just street use that provide plenty of traction and grip. These tires wouldn't see track time and would be used Spring through Fall. I was just wanting some opinions on what tires you all have had that worked good or ones that were crap. Please help me out with some advice.

Not looking for drag tires or anything like that. Less than 175 a tire fo sho.

Thanks!

I am running Falken ZE-512s on my fat bitch that is rated at 200HP/200TQ at the flywheel, and they stick when I want them to and will brake free when i want them to. Also they have wonderfull wet weather traction, my only complaint is the tread wear is a little high. I got them from DTD for $65 a tire for 17s.

You might also want to lookin into the 912s, I have heard good things about them too.

i have the Toyo Proxes T1-R and so far I love them, 280 tread wear so they arent super hard and they have a nice agressive tread patter and are also great in the rain

Thanks guys. I am running 15" wheels, just in case it matters. Just wondering what everyone has. Nice look is good but not required, grip is main importance.

if Grip is al youre concerned with get Falken RT-615's its one of the top rated dry performance tires the only thing is the tread pattern doesnt disperse water very well at all, however the Hankook vestus RS2 Z212 has the same specs at the Falkens but the water dispersing tread pattern =]

Awesome. I'll probably get the Hankook tires then just so I have some water traction...or do the others have decent water traction? If they do, I'd rock those because I don't really dig the water dispersion look for some reason.

youre going to want to get bfg drag radials. daily driving on them is fine. and driving in rain on them is perfectly fine, trust me. remember youre talking to the guy who drives around on full blown 24.5" slicks.

..or wait for the new mickey thompson e.t. streets to come out like i am but they are more expensive.

theyre still a radial tire but just with a softer compound. its not wrinkle wall.

with a gsr transmission i would stick with a 205/50/15. or you could get a 225/50/15. its a little bit taller and would make your gearing a tad longer.

i would not get a "all season" tire if i were you. you are not going to like it on your setup you have. just spinning everywhere is not really that fun, trust me i know ;)

i have a really good hookup on tires. let me know if you want to get some and he could have them the next day for you.
