Please help!!! 2000 type r no start!!!

Post by juniorgarcia »

UPDATE!!!!!!!

I have a 92 Honda civic cx, with a 2000 Type r swap. Have had it in there for a while now. Never really had problems... Until today.

I have a solid check engine light, the car will crank but not start, the fuel pump Does not come on, the main relay clicks, but I think it only clicks once. all fuses seam to be ok i pulled them all out and they were ok except for the rear defrost fuse under the hood it was melted but not sure if it's relevant. If u stand in front of your car lookin at the fuse box, it's the one towards the firewall, all the way in the corner to the right (towards the engine) I did the K-Test from the map sensor to the thermostat ground wires, and I'm getting battery voltage on all 3 wires with KOEO instead of 5!!

Here's the problem, usually that means bad Ecu, or maybe main relay, but I've swaped both out and same problem. That's a basic run down of what I've tried. I've looked all over online and everyone always ends their post with " I replaced the Ecu and it's fixed" or "I replaced the main relay and it's fixed" unfortunately it's not working for me. Here's a bit more info on how this happen.

I've been having low idle problems, so today, I read up on how to adjust the idle. I warmed the car up, While it was running, I disconnected the IAC, then backed out the throttle body adjustment screw, then shut the car off and connected the IAC back up... (while I adjusted the screw I disconnected the map sensor so I could easily adjust the screw but I forgot to plug it back in when I plugged the IAC back up...) i removed the ecu fuse from underhood to let the code clear(from me disconnecting the sensors) then put fuse back in and started my car (iac plugged in, map sensor disconnected) the engine light came on so I shut the car off and realized the map sensor was disconnected... I plugged it in, removed Ecu fuse again, then installed after a few minutes and tried to start car but that's when I found a solid CEL and fuel pump not priming...

I HOPE U GUYS CAN HELP!!!!! WHAT SHOULD I DO????

16 views and nothing??? Well here's an update. The main relay was replaced. The Ecu was changed out and the K test was done... The k test shows there's almost no voltage, witch generally means bad Ecu, but I changed it and same thing... So??? I lomee yo diagrams And so far it looks like I have all good power and grounds at the Ecu.. ANY HELP PLEASE???? Battery light, oil light, and check engine light all stay on.

what color wires are on the plug going to the map sensor? the only relay that has anything to do with the car running is the main relay, it powers the ecu on injectors and fuel pump. check your under hood fuses, check all your fuses, for that matter.

SO it is an obd2b motor, what harness did you guys use to install the motor? WHat year car did it go into? What year ECU is it? Did you reset the battery once the CEL came on?

Update, I now do the k test and I get battery voltage on every wire!! It seems all the wires going to the map sensor are grounded somehow??? I don't know!!

It's obd2 motor, I used the original harness that was on the motor, original harness for the car, just ran vtec wires. Here's the thing though, the car has ran just fine for a very long time. And now this happened out of no where, so I doubt I have the wrong year Ecu, or I have the wrong harness because I've been driving the car just fine. But I'm using an obd1 p28 Ecu tuned on chrome. As far as re setting the cel, I've removed the Ecu fuse and left it out for a few minutes, then plugged it back in and nothing. I'm so frustrated!!! Thanks guys for the replies please keep them coming!

what you are describing doesnt make any sense, my only thought is that the ecu is fried, but you said you tried a different one? the grn/wht on the map is a ground idk how it could have voltage on it. lol, i dont have any ideas, sorry.

Ok re did the K test and had 0v on all wires. And yes I had key on engine off.I replaced the Ecu fuse and ACG ALT S fuse. I'm lost too.. And yes, I tried a different Ecu, and then another one last night.
