need v-tec!!!
so i have a 91' EF hatch with a D16y8 and im pretty sure (im new so correct me if im wrong) its still on the stock ECU. All i know is that it is not running V-Tec and i want to lol. so what im guessing is that all i need to do is buy the right ECU plug it in and go. the guy i bought the car from also gave me a wiring harness and said whenever i get the V-Tec ECU that i will need this wire to plug into the new ECU. basically i just need to know where to look for a good ECU and any tips and things to getting it up and running. thanks.:ditto:

Did you swap the full wire engine harness also? If not you'll need to run wires for vtec. If it was changed you'll need to look at where that harness plugs into the ecu harness and make sure there are vtec wires there also.

I'm pretty sure he did swap to the vtec wiring harness but he also gave me a short cord that he said would plug into the new ecu. if not though how could i look at the wiring harness and know if it was right one?Turtle_Civic;281911 wrote:Did you swap the full wire engine harness also? Well if you look on the passenger strut tower there is a few good size plugs. If one has all the holes in the connector filled and the one that it is clipped to dosnt that's probably your problem because Im almost positive your car didn't come out factory with a vtec motor. If not you won't have the vtec wires coming from that plug to your ecu.
