ECU for a turbo LS or LSV?!?

Post by Teg-Potential »

Im leaning towards putting this turbo kit on my rebuilt ls (completely stock)
http://www.go-autoworks-store.com/gostkit.html

but mainly for not blowing my budget i might do an LSV (not real likely since i just put a new ls head on it)

eitherway im going to need an ECU. From what ive read the P28 will work just fine with either once chipped.

here : http://www.hamotorsports.com/socketedp28.html
i found a p28 and once i click the dropdown menu to choose my engine it says (b18c... p72) and i think it even comes with a preprogamed basemap and a jumper harness. verify?

this would work? and from what ive read ist eh most common ..?!?

toss your $.02 and tell me no/yes/why...
thanks.

a chipped p28 would run both setups yes. or you could just use a pr4/p75 if you plan on just staying with the ls. will be cheaper than a p28. but if you plan on ever going with a vtec head on it i would just go ahead and get the p28 so that option is already taken care of and you dont have to buy another ecu and get it chipped later on.
i may not be "logical" but at least i can change my oil...

you can run a p06 which are probably cheaper and more plentiful. You will have to have it chipped and have the car tuned if you boost it and also tuned if you go LSV (although I have ran a budget LSV on a GSR map and been totally fine)

Either way, whatever ECU you use will need chipped/tuned for either setup/
