Vtec oil pressure switch...

I guess I'll throw in my bit to confuse everyone.

Does the CEL stay on after vtec engagement? and then stay on when you shut the car off then turn it back on? If it doesn't then the ECU is reseting itself and does not hold a constant power.

A VTEC oil pressure sensor switch would only throw a code at the factory vtec engagment point because its not reading anything up that point. I would: check screen, wiring, and if your using a USDM ECU with a JDM motor it should throw a CEL because of BS emmission monitiors, and other shit that isn't required else where. Just my $.02

Thats not true. Remember that we're talking about OBD1, NOT OBD2. The only difference sensor wise between an OBD1 motor here and in Japan is the Purge Solenoid, which does not throw a CEL if it is unplugged. So a P28/P06 would work just fine on any JDM motor as long as its chipped with the right fuel, ignition and timing maps.

And just because the CEL doesn't stay on consistently after starting and stopping the car doesn't necessarily mean the ECU is resetting itself. The code will still be stored in the ECU until you manually purge it from the system.

So, after one month I take it this 20 minute troubleshoot/fix is still not complete? Did you ever put a spool valve on that had a pressure switch?

For the mentally challenged:

1. If you are throwing a VTEC pressure switch code, check the pressure switch first; they are known to fail.

2. If you are throwing a pressure switch code and you DON'T HAVE ONE guess what dumbass? It's throwing the code because you don't have a damn pressure switch! Put one on and RECHECK!!!!!

3. If you are not mechanically inclined enough to remove 3 10 mm bolts and a VTEC solenoid plug to replace it with one that has a pressure switch, you should probably not do ANYTHING to your Honda. This includes checking the oil. You need to go to a mechanic!!!

4. If you don't have a spool valve assembly that has a pressure switch and you aren't smart enough to put an oil pressure gauge on your car to verify pressure is safe, you need to go to a mechanic!!!

5. Why is it that so many of the posts on here have a question and many answers but the OP doesn't seem to follow through?

6. Because of #5, why even ask the question? Just drain your oil out and go drive your car.

Sorry for the rant; I just can not believe that this problem wasn't fixed within 24 hours of the question being asked. That would be like "Hey, man, my check engine light came on, what is the problem?" Then, a couple days later, posting this: "Oh yeah, my engine is sitting in front of my car because I don't have it in yet. I turned on my key to roll up my windows and I'm getting all sorts of engine codes. The light goes off when I turn the key off. Anyone have any idea what is going on?"

i do not see why its upsetting you so much...I ask a question...if you don't want to answer it than do not worry about it. I live in an apartment in florida going to college full time while working 50 hours a week and having no tools in my tool box let alone a god damn pressure switch. Its not my first priority and its not my daily driver so therefore I will fix the problem when it is convenient for me...not for you. Also all the honest help you gave me was already said previously in the thread..it was like me asking someone where I could get some water...and they were to respond the sink..than you followed along responding with the same answer...you could have just left your unnecessary post out of this thread...im sorry your mom beat you when you were younger and you have enough time on your hands to fix your vehicular problems in twenty four hour intervals. I guess you could make a career as a mechanic. congrats buddy.
